JOB DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW
The General Manager is responsible for operating the restaurant in
accordance with Starbird’s standards of hospitality, food, quality and
cleanliness, with a primary focus on achieving long-term profitable sales
growth. The General Manager should have the mentality of an owner with
respect to how they run the business. They should be equally talented and
able to direct both FOH and BOH team members and operations. The General
Manager supervises and trains all salaried and hourly team members in
accordance with Starbird policies and is responsible for developing a
motivated and competent team. The entire restaurant management team acts
together to monitor all restaurant functions to ensure guest satisfaction.
Along with effectively managing the restaurant and service during their
shift, the General Manager must also uphold the Starbird brand image and
fulfill the role of the company’s representative in their local community.

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with a 45-55 hour expected
work week. Managers will be expected to work evenings and weekends
regularly.

 Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Google Aps, Aloha POS System,.
Ability to create excel spreadsheets, business correspondence, and
service guidelines and documents.
 Ability to effectively train, mentor and manage hourly team members.
 Openness to being coached/mentored.
 Ability to identify business priorities and set goals.
 Possesses effective planning and organizational skills.

High school education required. College degree a plus.
Several years’ management experience required leading a fast-paced
restaurant.
Demonstrated leadership success in managing and developing people.
PHYSICAL
 Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to
4 hours in length.
 Must have the ability to lift 35 pounds in weight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Lead Profit and Loss (P&L) management by following cash control/security
procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor and food cost,
reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate and effective action
to make improvements throughout operations. Coach and teach junior
managers on P&L literacy and ways to improve profitability. Conduct
inventory and cash control procedures.
 Effectively manage the restaurant within the policies and guidelines of
the company, ensuring 100% guest satisfaction at all times.
 Inspire and continue the positive culture of the restaurant and
demonstrate core values on a daily basis.
 Ensure a safe, positive and healthy working and guest experience free of
harassment. Ensure that Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), local
health and safety codes, and company safety and security policies are
met. Includes sanitation supervision.
 Control day-to-day operations by scheduling labor, working with the team
to order ingredients and supplies, and continuously focusing on team
development.
 Be the face of Starbird, role model expected service standards.
 Manage employee relations administrative needs in conjunction with the
HR manager to include, but not limited to: administration of
disciplinary action, training, coaching, recruiting, interviewing,
performance plans, suspension and terminations.
 Maintain accurate and complete personnel files for all team members,
communicating new hire data and any payroll or personnel changes to HR
Department. Administer manager-level pay changes, promotions, demotions,
transfers, cross training, vacations and changes of address and personal
information.
 Maintain positive relations with all purveyors – ensure proper ordering
and receiving procedures for ingredients and supplies.
 Plan and lead team member meetings to ensure compliance with Starbird
systems and procedures.
 Execute equipment and facilities maintenance and repair, maintain
company standards on equipment, facilities, and grounds by enforcing
preventative maintenance programs.
 Ensure complete and timely execution of corporate and local marketing
programs.
 Verify all team members are present and able to perform their shift
duties, including setting all stations, service areas, dining room and
tables and that the tables and floor are clean. Ensure that entire
facility and service area looks full/clean/abundant during service.
