Open Forum: ❖ Guest Speaker - Ramon Pinero ➢ ramon.pinero@mnsu.edu ➢ Alumni Director here on campus. I have only been in this roll for 8 months. My purpose here today is to basically ask some questions and get some feedback from you as students about how we can get more students engaged with the alumni office. ➢ 1. What engages you as a student? Are there things outside of the sorority that get you engaged? ■ Molly Polzin: Posters or information about events. I like seeing facts and what we are contributing to. ■ Maddie Taylor: Dates and Times specifically stated are good when they are big and well noted on information for events. ■ Brianna Werner: When faculty talks to their students about events going on in the community that they are involved in and allows students to announce their events in class it shows that they are passionate about them and makes me want to go to them more. ■ Ramon Pinero: What forms work best to receive information? ● Ashley Brittain: Social media is best because posters and bulletin boards are not really looked at and emails from school usually get deleted. ➢ 2. If you were an alum, which someday you will, what would you say would engage you in the university? ■ Kacey Slattery: Letters and invitations to specific events actually on paper. ■ Molly Polzin: I prefer more an envelope formal format then a postcard format. ■ Ashley Brittain: Social media is the best form of communication along with the letters. Hopefully there is an alumni Facebook group or something that people can join and hear about events through. ■ Ramon Pinero: How many of you think that the alumni office just wants your money, just raise your hand? - majority raised their hand ➢ What could we do as an alumni office to make you participate in events. ■ Nikki Kramer: A college reunion based upon the year of graduation or maybe within their college. ■ Molly Polzin: Working on changing the public image and the stereotype of the alumni office. I also think that reunion idea is a great idea. ■ Ashley Brittain: Maybe for homecoming since the alumni are drawn to that event they could do something to be more involved in homecoming like having a float in the parade or something. ■ Brianna Werner: Have an alumni brunch the morning of homecoming and have a postcard or list of events planned for alumni throughout the year so they have that readily available. ■ John Bulcock: These groups sometimes have events themselves that the alumni office is not aware of so maybe trying to get wind of those and getting more individuals to publicize those events. ■ DJ: Maybe possibly some travel or hotel accommodations or something since some may be traveling a ways to the events. ❖ Greek Week Co-Chair ➢ We are getting going on Greek Week really fast.
