Grant Program Information and Guidelines:
The Communication and Theatre Association of Minnesota (CTAM) is offering grants for the financial support
of high school and college speech communication and theatre programs in Minnesota. CTAM is prepared to
offer 5 to 10 grants of a minimum of $200 each for the 2015-2016 school year. The amount requested for a
grant may range from the minimum of $200 to a maximum of $2,000. The final number and amount of grants
awarded will be determined after applications are reviewed. Schools are eligible to apply for CTAM grants
should be entities that are allowed to receive charitable contributions from the Minnesota Community
Foundation, which is the parent organization for the CTAM Foundation. These institutions are 501c3 nonprofit
organizations, school districts, colleges and universities within Minnesota state limits. To be eligible, applicant
programs must have a coach, instructor, or administrator that is a current member of CTAM. Applications must
also be approved by the Department Chair of the Program or the Institution’s Principal or other administrator
responsible for overseeing the Speech Communication and or Theatre program.
Institutions receiving grants may use the funds to support costs reasonably associated with the operations of
speech communication and theatre programs, including but not limited to entry fees, supplies, coaching
stipends, equipment and educational offerings.
Applications should be submitted by January12, 2016 for review. Grants awarded will be announced by
April 8. 2015 CTAM will take numerous factors into consideration in selecting grant recipients. Preference
will be given to institutions that commit some of their own resources to support speech communication and
theatre programs and do not rely solely on the grant. Preference will also be given to new programs, to
programs with new coaches and/or instructors, and to programs that face other challenges to their existence and
operations. CTAM may conduct interviews of applicant coaches, instructors and administrators.
Programs that receive grants will be expected to compete a detailed report on the expenditure of the grant
allotment for the 2015-2016 and submitted to Treasurer of CTAM by a date to be determined upon the awarding
of the grant.

The undersigned acknowledge that if awarded a grant by CTAM Foundation, the applicant institution is
expected to fulfill the following requirements:
*Submission of a detail plan on how the grant funds were used upon completion of the year for which
the grant was approved.
*Submission of the achievements that were accomplished by use of the grant funds received.
*Submission of any materials that would support the possibility of receiving any additional grants from
the CTAM Foundation in future years.
If a recipient institution fails to meet these expectations, CTAM may at its discretion seek the return of all or a
portion of grant funds that were allocated.
