III Justification and Need for the Program
A course is being moved from Information Systems Administration concentration section to
the Master of Public Administration (MPA) core curriculum section in compliance with the
National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) mandate.
NASPAA requires that every national accredited program must have an information technology
course for all students. As a result, the MPA faculty members agreed to use IS 8200 Legal and
Ethical Issues in Information Systems Administration concentration section to fulfill that
mandate. To maintain a 36 semester-hour program, we are proposing to increase the core
requirements from 21 semester credit hours to 24, and reduce concentration requirements of 12
semester credit hours to 9.
