Guidelines for Specific Course Requirements: Paper/Project Choose one of the following: 1. Write a paper espousing a useful theory of leadership for you as a current leader in your workplace or for you as an aspiring leader in the same or different workplace. Your theory of leadership should be based on documented relevant research. Incorporate the application of this theory in implementing health policy. Use APA guidelines; limit to 10 pages. The key to this project involves establishing a theory of leadership that you utilize in your practice and documenting how you use this theory in implementing health policy as a nurse leader. 2. Select a leadership issue related to health policy identified in the assigned readings of the course and of interest to you. Read the research and literature on that issue that you identify and document your findings in a paper utilizing APA guidelines; limit to 10 pages. The key to this project involves documenting the research on this leadership issue, including the relationship to health policy. 3. Arrange to “shadow” a leader of your choice for a day. Observe the leader in action, interview him or her, and write a paper in which you discuss styles of leadership observed in the leader. Include how this leader utilizes and implements health policy. Obviously, one would have to observe a leader for more than a day to achieve a comprehensive view of that leader, but the purpose of this paper is not comprehensiveness, rather it is a beginning of reflection on a style in action, and an opportunity to engage in a micro qualitative study utilizing ethnographic techniques. Use APA guidelines and limit paper to 5 pages. The paper/project will be graded on: Organization and use APA format Grammar, style and clarity Relevance to leadership and health policy Comprehensiveness and accuracy of content 8 15% 15% 35% 35% Guidelines for Specific Course Requirements: Online Assignments 1. Each assignment requires at least 2-page posting & at least 2 replies (2 paragraphs for each reply) to other students’ postings. Include references in postings. 2. Grading criteria for theses assignments: Correct answers to the questions posed in the online assignment Grammar, style and clarity of answers Follows directions of two page length and two replies 35% 35% 30% Late Penalty: 10% will be deducted daily for any assignment not turned in by the assigned time and due date.
