An introduction to different types of educational research, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods will be explored. Students will refine a topic for their action research and complete the research prospectus proposal, the CITI Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative, the IRB approval forms required, and the school district permission forms. III. Justification This course replaces ECE 7541 and ECE 7550 and treats qualitative and quantitative research methodologies more equitably. IV. Additional Information (for New Courses only) Instructor: TBA Texts: Mertler, C. A. (2009). Action research: Teachers as researchers in the classroom (2nd Ed.). Los Angeles, SAGE Publications. American Psychological Association. (2009). Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.). Washington, D.C. Prerequisites: Admission to the program and ECE 7511 and 7531 1. Candidates will demonstrate competencies needed to analyze research. 2. Conduct and write the results of an action research project that relates theory to practice in order to improve teacher's education practices and effectiveness.
