Bus transport from and to Southend

Southend/Colchester Bus Service
Following conversations between the University and the Students’ Union, a bus
service has begun to run between Southend and Colchester (and back).
Running every Wednesday until the end of the academic year, the bus leaves
Southend from outside the SU at 12.30pm, returning from the Wivenhoe Park
Campus at 6.00pm.
There is a small charge of £2 return levied for this service but it is still a subsidised
service.
Marjolein Hoes, the SU Administration Manager at Southend is responsible for ticket
sales and also for monitoring uptake of the service and making any
recommendations, based on student feedback, for future change/developments to
the service.
Colchester/Southend Minibus Service
In addition to the above, the SU is investigating the feasibility of a minibus service to
allow officers and staff of the SU and staff of the University to make trips to Southend
without having to resort to using a car.
The service is intended to run on alternate Fridays, leaving campus at 9.30am and
returning at 3.00pm. These times are very much flexible at this point however and
will be demand-led.
