Santiago Canyon College Student Government Leaders
Attend Planning Retreat
Orange─On Friday, Nov. 30, elected officers of the Associated Student Government (ASG) at
Santiago Canyon College attended a leadership planning retreat and strategized ways to continue
the progress they have made since being elected to office.
“The inaugural overnight retreat for student government was held in August,” said ASG
President Sean Dadashi of Orange. “It really helped us focus on our objectives for 2007-2008,
and our planning at this retreat helped us continue our progress.”
Accomplishments to date include leading a four-day election in which the student body
voted to change the name of the organization from Incorporated Student Council (ISG) to
Associated Student Government (ASG).
“All student senators also are actively participating in governance, and many students
have purchased student stickers, which allow them to get discounts at a number of local
businesses,” Dadashi added.
Other officers who participated in the leadership retreat include ASG Vice President of
Internal Affairs Stella Kim, of Anaheim Hills, and ASG Vice President of Programming Belen
Morinigo, of Yorba Linda. All three ASG leaders will graduate in spring 2008.

Kim and Morinigo are members of the Santiago Business Society, which focuses on
business-related opportunities and networking leaders. All three student leaders are members of
Rotaract, a community service organization.
“Stella, Belen and I are getting great support for ASG,” said Dadashi. “We are proud to
serve the students this year.”
