Creoles, and the
African-American
Blues, Gospel, and
work-songs.

Jelly-roll Morton claims
to have created jazz
music.
In 1902, he applied a
swing syncopation to all
sorts of music (ragtime,
opera, songs) and
introduced the ‘two-bar
break’ for solo
improvisation.
