David R. Zornes is Reservoir Technology Consultant with the Advanced Energy Project involved with the development of nano technologies for improving Reservoir Characterization and Oil Recovery. Zornes retired from ConocoPhillips with 35 years of service in positions including, Research Technical Manager and EOR Director. As an Area Engineering Director in OKC he was responsible for field EOR applications, well completions, and reservoir management projects. Zornes received his MS in Chemical Engineering from Kansas University where he conducted EOR surfactant research. Zornes is an active 40 yr member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and has served on committees for the Annual Technical Conference, the International Oilfield Chemistry and Tula SPE IOR Symposia. Zornes is past president of the Oklahoma City API Chapter and has served as a Completion Engineering Association officer. Zornes is highly known in the industry due to his involvement in many organizations, DOE advisory committees, and also as a representative to numerous university JIP’s during his career. He has ten patents and more than 20 technical publications. Zornes received the distinguished SPE IOR Pioneer Award in 2010. Zornes has been married for 44 years to Cynthia Fine (former math teacher) and has two children and three granddaughters.
