The Graduate Assistant for the Center for Health Education and
Promotion contributes to fulfilling the mission of the Center
through working on various projects in conjunction with the
Director and peer educators. The Center for Health Education and
Promotion contributes to fulfilling the educational mission of
Millersville University through empowering students to make
informed decisions and develop life-long skills that enhance their
personal well being. The Center contributes to increasing the
academic success, productivity and retention of students through
providing current and relevant information about high risk
behaviors; raising awareness about personal decision making and
the impact decisions have on an individual and their community;
and engaging students in meaningful opportunities to create a
healthy community in which all students can achieve their personal
and academic goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist the Director of the Center for Health Education and Promotion in the planning,
implementation, and evaluation of health and wellness programs.
2. Serve as the advisor of the Marauder Choices student-athlete peer education group.
 Assist with all aspects (hiring, training, evaluating, etc) of the Choices peer
educators.
 Facilitate weekly staff meetings.
 Ensure that the Choices educators complete all required grant programs and that
evaluative data is being collected. This includes execution of a social norms
campaign.
 Prepare an end of year Choices peer education summary report of all activities.
3. Work with the Alcohol and Other Drug Steering Committee in facilitating a student
alcohol task force.
 Coordinate student representatives.
 Provide oversight and direction to the group.
 Serve as liaison between the student group and Steering Committee.
4. Assist the social norms committee in administering the American College Health
Association National Collegiate Health Assessment and a social norms campaign.


Coordinate with the peer educators to distribute messages during orientation, and
the rest of the campaign during the subsequent weeks.
 Coordinate with ACHA the implementation of the NCHA survey.
 Assist in the development of social norms campaigns.
Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of Wellness Week.
 Work closely with the Peer Educators in planning these events.
 Send event request forms to various campus organizations and organize the weeks
as requests to host programs are received.
 Have professional advertising posters and fliers made to promote the events.
 Advertise the events through all available campus mediums.
 Work with Office Manager to order appropriate materials for events.
 Attend events and manage day of tasks.
Develop, coordinate and evaluate a Men of Strength (or other identified program) sexual
violence advocacy/education group for men.
Assist in the coordination/implementation of sexual violence programming on campus.
Responsible for updating the Center website.
Other projects as they arise.
