Welcome to 7th Grade FCS! Let’s make it a GREAT year!
Overview: 7th grade FCS is a 6 week course and it sure does fly by! During this 6 week course, students will
learn about consumerism and the rights we have as consumers. Students will also get involved in a service
learning project.
Basic Supplies:
-Pencil
-2 Pocket Folder to keep track of all FCS papers
-Notebook or loose leaf paper (to keep in FCS folder) ---Mrs. Gallagher’s class only
-Other materials will be provided and kept in the FCS classroom
Grading:
Students will be graded on various activities throughout the 6 weeks. Below are some examples, but
assignments are not limited to this list.

***There is 1 major project in 7th grade Family Consumer Sciences. This project is ongoing and makes up the
majority of the final grade. This is an in class project and students are given plenty of time to complete this in
class. If any part of the project is not done in class, it must be completed at home. The project is completed in
Google Docs and in Prezi. The project will be reviewed about once a week to make sure that students are on
track. Students will be working in partners for this project.

Late Work:
Non-Absent Students: Students will have 2 days to turn in assignments after their due date. After 2 days,
the assignments will become a zero.
Absent Students: Students will have 2 days to turn in assignments after their absences unless prior
arrangements have been made. Students will be given a fair amount of time after their absence to make up
anything they missed in class.
***If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to check in with their project partner to see what was
missed and what still needs to be done.
Missing Class/Late to Class:
Field Trips: Students are responsible for giving prior notice to the teacher when attending any field trips.
Students must sign out on the classroom calendar and get all work that they will miss. If you do not see me
at least a day before your field trip, you will receive a detention for “skipping” class.
Legal Vacations: Students must complete a blue vacation application form and get necessary teacher
signatures. This form must be signed by me 2 weeks before the scheduled vacation. This is school policy
because it must be turned into the office and approved.
Absences: Students must see me when they return from their absence to collect any work they missed. The
best time to do this is during morning homeroom, not the middle of class.
Late to Class: All students must have a late pass when coming in late to class. If a student does not have a
pass, he/she will have to go and get one from the teacher/staff member they were with. If a student is late to
class 3 times, a detention will be issued.
