We will have program opportunities available in in all disciplines that will allow you to demonstrate your intellect, to learn new things, to explore career fields and to participate in hands-on learning. Each month at our GOAL meeting your will learn about future activities and have an opportunity to register for programs at that time. …………………………………..Before we do that however, we must meet with each GOAL student and their parent and develop a GIEP plan for the year. ~GIEPs ~ We will beginning our GIEP conferences the week of September 14th, 2015 *IF* your GIEP is scheduled for the fall, your parents will receive an invitation to participate via email. Not all students have fall GIEP conference dates. Your parents can then share your GIEP meeting date and time with you. You will also receive a pass with the date, time and location of the meeting. YOU should report to the auditorium foyer at the scheduled time. Please check in with your classroom teacher before reporting to the meeting. REMIND All GOAL communications will be handled through REMIND and the NAI GOAL website this year. You may elect to receive your GOAL messages through either your own email, text or SMS message - your choice. There is even a free app on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. GOAL Meetings are held the last week of every month generally on Wednesdays - in the Student Activities Office (SAO) across from the cafeteria during all lunch periods. You do not need to stay the whole period, but all GOAL students are required to stop in to see your GOAL teacher during your lunch period on that day. Attendance at these meetings will be noted on your GOAL Semester Evaluation. All GOAL student information forms are past due. If you have not yet submitted your forms they must be returned to the GOAL office by the end of the day on September 25, 2015 Please place in the box that will be provided outside of the GOAL office. GIEP season will last until HALLOWEEN, so until that time, the GOAL office will be open for business related purposes. Global Leadership Certificate UNIQUE, ONE OF A KIND CERTIFICATE PROGRAM! ➔ You can be AWARDED a special certificate designed for high school students who demonstrate GLOBAL AWARENESS. ➔ Developed with the World Affairs Council of PGH and piloted through North Allegheny ➔ build global awareness and strengthen key leadership skills needed for a 21st century workforce. ➔ requires a minimum of two years for completion. How about the Junior Breakthrough Challenge? The Breakthrough Junior Challenge invites you to share your passion for math and science with the world! Submit a 10-minute video that illustrates a challenging concept or theory of mathematics, life sciences, or physics in an engaging, illuminating, and creative way. You can explain an age-old theory or concept or a more recent breakthrough discovery, including one made by a Breakthrough Laureate or perhaps even by you!
