1C News Important Dates for November/December Nov. 20—Report Cards go home Nov. 23-27—Thanksgiving Break Dec. 4—Reports Cards due back Dec. 15—Winter Concert @ 2:00 Dear Parents: Happy almost Thanksgiving! It’s hard to believe that the first trimester is over. Thank you for all the parents who participated in Parent/Teacher conferences. Report cards will go home on November 20th. Please go over the report card with your child and discuss with them their areas of strength and areas where they may need some improvement. Remember that report cards are standards based meaning, grades are Independent, With Support, or Not at this Time. I am asking that all report cards and the envelopes be signed and returned by Friday, December 4th. In reading we continue to work on different elements of fiction and non-fiction. In flex reading children switched teachers on Monday. So if your child says they are seeing Miss Deliberto or Miss Espe during reading they are correct. In math we have been studying solids and shapes and this week we started working on measuring. Today a project is going home. There is a note attached, but your child needs to decorate a gingerbread boy or girl in any way they would like. I know some people go away for Thanksgiving so that is why I am sending the project home a little early. You may just color the character or glue on objects or anything they can think of. Please have all projects back by Wednesday, December 2nd so that we may decorate the main hallway display cases. Please continue to help the kids remember their reading logs every Monday. Students should be reading or be read to for 60 minutes every week. Students earn rewards for remembering their reading logs so please help me to teach your child about responsibility by turning these logs in every week. As the weather gets colder please make sure the children are dressed appropriately for the weather. As always if you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Have a great week and a happy Thanksgiving. Mr. Corbett
