Attendance and Tardy Policy:
Regular and prompt attendance is necessary to be successful in this course. In-class
activities and group work will constitute part of your participation. Your third tardy will result
in a call home, and your fourth tardy will result in a detention. Each tardy after the fourth will
result in a dean’s referral. If you are absent, you will have one day for each day absent to
turn in missed assignments. It is your responsibility to seek out assignments and notes you
miss (they will be online). You are expected to keep up with current assignments while
making up absent work. If you are absent on the day of a test, see me the day you return to
schedule a make-up time before or after school. If you are absent the day before a test or
quiz you will still take the assessment on its scheduled day.
Quizzes and Tests:
Each unit is broken down into learning targets (daily objectives) that you will be assessed on
for understanding or mastery. Throughout the unit you will take mastery quizzes that are
specific to the learning targets addressed in class and on homework. Some of these
assessments will be pass or fail. Some of these assessments will be grading on a specific
rubric. However, you are able to retake these assessments ONCE to improve your score.
Retakes: If you decide to retake a learning target quiz you must first complete and turn
in practice problems and a reflection for each learning target that you want to retake.
There will be a specific day in class for you to retake missing learning targets. If the
additional practice problems and reflection are not done, you WILL NOT be able to
retake the quiz…EVER. The additional work MUST be turned in checked by me two
days before the day of the retake in class.
Every 5 weeks there will be a cumulative assessment that cannot be retaken. The final
cumulative assessment will be the final exam.
Calculator Policy:
 Graphing calculators (TI 83 Plus, TI 84 or TI 84 Plus) are REQUIRED for this course.
 For any other types of calculators, make sure you check with me prior to buying.
 You cannot share calculators during tests or quizzes.
 You cannot use the calculator on your phone.
Extra Help:
 I am available for help most days before and after school (starting in October).
Please let me know when you will be coming in so I can make sure I am in my
room at that time. I am also in Math Resource 4th period.
 You can go to the math resource room during your access for additional help.
Math Resource will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week.
Please take advantage of the opportunities given to you.
 To go to resource you MUST get a pass from ME.
 Resource is NOT for doing homework, it is for getting help or asking a
question.
 The resource room will be busy so DO NOT expect one-on-one help for the
entire period. If you need one-on-one help, come see me before or after
school
Important 
Additional resources will be placed on the class Google Docs drive.
*Any issues or procedures not specifically discussed in this syllabus will be handled according
to the WWSHS student handbook.
Checking your grade: Grades will be updated after all tests and quizzes on Synergy. Do not
hesitate to talk to me about your grade if you have concerns.
