Homework should take about 45 minutes per night. This can always be supplemented with basic facts practice, reading, etc. If homework is not completed on time, a homework notice will be attached in the assignment notebook and must be signed by a parent. Classroom Behavior Students are expected to behave in a courteous, attentive manner as not to disrupt their learning or the learning of others. Madison Elementary follows the six pillars of Character Counts and is adopting the “Bucketfiller” metaphor. Grading Report cards are distributed four times per school year as one way to communicate how your child is achieving in school. Letter grades are given for each subject area and are based solely on achievement. Effort is rated by a number system. The following grade scales are used for 5th grade. Criteria for Letter Grades Criteria for Subcategories 90-100 = A 80-89 = B 70-79 = C 60-69 = D 0-59 = F 96-100 = 4 70-95 = 3 60-69 = 2 0-59 = 1 The start of the school year has been fantastic! We hope to see you at conferences in November, but please do not hesitate to email, call, or write a note if you have any questions prior to that date. Thank you for your support and cooperation. It makes a world of difference to your child.
