Going on a Sound Hunt Before beginning the sound hunt the teacher must first check to see that there is an abject for each sound card in the room. If not, additional objects will be required or the sound cards, with no object to relate, to can be removed. - The children are asked to sit in a circle and sound cards are placed face down in the centre. - The class sings “I am going on a sound hunt”. - A child is selected to continue the song singing “I’m going to find something. It starts with.....” - The child selects a sound card and says the sound aloud. - The class echoes “It starts with .....”. - The child then searches the room to find an object that begins with that sound. - If the child chooses the wrong object another child is chosen to help. - If the child is correct, this child then places the object at the front of the classroom. - The sound card is placed in a new pile out of the circle. - The song is sung as before. - The game continues in a clockwise circle until all the sound cards are gone. - All the objects collected are placed in a line. - The class then names each object and match the sound card to the object.
