Handout 1-1 One Method of Photograph Analysis Objective Observation Describe exactly what you see in the photo; avoid your personal feelings or interpretations at this point; the idea is to help someone who has not seen the photo to visualize it. Subjective Observation Describe your personal feelings, associations and judgments about the image. Ground these impressions on things that you have seen in the photo. Prior Knowledge What do you already know (or think) you know about what is in the photo? Deductions or Conclusions What can you conclude or deduce about the photo or what is happening in the photo? What questions does this photo raise for you? What else would you need to know to answer those questions?
