Birth and Family Education offers a wide spectrum of classes to provide the information needed to create a personal birthing plan. Yes INTERNSHIP INFORMATION: Internship will begin with Hospital orientation (1 day) with new employees followed by Community Health Education departmental orientation. Student skills and interest will be assessed for the best fit in planning projects. Interns will observe and shadow practitioners in D:\219551365.doc 7/27/2016 various areas. Projects may include: community assessments, curriculum planning, exhibit creation, inventory management, group presentations, data entry, and program evaluations. Health Education Internship at Franklin Square requires commitment to the hospital values, a great degree of self-motivation, good organizational skills, open communication, and reliability. OTHER INFORMATION: Hours Basically weekdays, approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. but are very flexible and include occasional evenings (to 10 p.m.) and weekends. Appropriate Dress Uniforms are not required. General dress should be consistent with standards of safety and good business taste. Departmental shirts will be provided to wear with khakis and good walking shoes for community health fairs. Parking Free off-street parking available. Transportation Franklin Square is located on several MTA bus routes. Some individual transportation to community sites will be required. Confidentiality Any information concerning the business of our hospital, patients, suppliers, employees, or personnel associated wit the hospital is confidential and restricted. You may not reveal any such information except under the direction and approval of your immediate supervisor. Computer skills Interns should be computer literate; Franklin Square uses Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); email and internet are involved in daily interactions. Community Interaction Interns will be interacting with the public – outgoing personality, familiarity with group dynamics and public speaking are beneficial.
