The Institute for Well-Being brings together the innovative services and programs of four Towson University centers to create one all-encompassing organization DEPARTMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: The Department of the Institute for Well-Being supports the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism, the Occupational Therapy Center, the Speech, Language & Hearing Center and the Wellness Center. Yes ___ No_X__ INTERNSHIP INFORMATION (How might your organization use and improve a health education student’s skills and knowledge?): The Institute for Well-Being is a newly created institute. The student that is placed with our department will be able to help assess the needs of the public we serve. In addition, the student may be able to identify areas of the market that have been overlooked. With the clients that visit our clinics regularly, the student is able to provide them with information that will educate them on the various issues that we address at the clinic. The student will experience working with clients in a supervised setting as well as representing our programs at various events. INTERN INFORMATION (What are the skills and qualities you seek in an intern?): We need a person who is comfortable interacting with people, including those with special needs. We need someone who is qualified in assisting the Wellness Center staff in serving their clients, including taking blood pressure. The intern should be able to multi-task and keep multiple projects organized at once. OTHER INFORMATION (Parking problems? Need for night/weekend availability? Things a student should know before an interview?): Occasional evening and Saturdays are required. Working with multiple Program Directors to assist in their programs as needed.
