AGENCY GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
The mission of the Carroll County Health Department is to create and sustain a community of wellness in
Carroll County. Our commitment is to assure the optimum quality of life by empowering the public with
knowledge and resources through advocacy and community partnerships.
DEPARTMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

Community Health Educators do work to contribute to achieving the mission in the following areas.
1– Child Passenger Safety Programs – become National certified and assist with car seat checks
2 – Safe Kids Coalition - injury prevention programs ages 0-14
3 – Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County, Inc. – leadership teams include: Access to Health Care,
Elder Health, Heart Health, Prevention and Wellness, Resource Conservation, Substance Abuse, InterPersonal violence, Family and Youth Positive Development, Mental Health, Cancer. Visit –

4. Prevention Services – work collaboratively with the Bureau of Addictions Treatment Services on
substance abuse prevention program and projects.
5 – Spend time with other departments with the Carroll County Health Department – Environmental
Health, Nursing, Addictions, WIC, Cigarette Restitution Fund Program, and Emergency Preparedness.

student’s skills and knowledge?):
As a health education intern, the student will be sent through the national child passenger safety
training to become a certified car seat technician.
Student must be willing to work outside at car seat checks in all weather conditions.
