Program Title: Culturally Competent Counselor Supervision Faculty Presenter: Judy Schmidt Course Description: Given the exceptionally diverse society in which we live it is essential for counselor supervisors to be multi-culturally aware, competent, and sensitive when providing supervision to students, interns, and new professionals. In order to provide ethical and successful supervision, cultural competence is a vital component of the supervisory relationship. However, many supervisors do not have appropriate training or do not maintain awareness of selfdevelopment for culturally competent supervision. This education session examines the impact of multicultural differences in supervision, the ethical guidelines for supervisors, and research and practice based recommendations for supervisors.
