Staples Advantage Mid-Market Internship
Position Overview
Are you someone who is considering a career in outside sales, thrives on hunting for prospective
customers or establishing, building and expanding customer relationships? Our Summer Sales
Intern program will provide you with the tools & training to put your sales knowledge in to
practice. The Sales Interns will work hand-in-hand with sales mentors and gain hands-on
practical sales experience. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced
environment and have a strong desire to work in sales.
Responsibilities
 Learn Staples Sales Processes including how to effectively generate leads, facilitate a
sales meeting, close a sale, and retain customers
 Initiate outbound sales calls to exceed assigned activity/revenue targets
 Develop and expand an existing customer base and client relationships
 Use telephone, e-commerce and other technology driven (web enabled) sales tools to
prospect customers and support the efforts of outside sales representatives
 Participate in field rides with mentor
 Collaborate with peers to conduct presentations on Staples products & services
 Enhance professional development skills via training sessions including workplace
etiquette, financial planning, time management
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
 Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
 Requires a GPA of 3.0 or higher
 Strong Microsoft Office skills
 Strong communication skills; ability to cold call
Preferred Qualifications:
 Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing, with an emphasis in sales
 Passionate about sales
 Enjoy working in teams and being highly communicative
 Able to multi-task and be flexible to new initiatives
