Political Opinions of Canada Canada has a lot of crime and political power and population. The government is currently stronger than the U.S.'s. Canada currently has 58,400 police officers protecting the provinces and has 20,700 people who do police services in Canada. Canadian laws guide public and private affairs. Canada had its lowest crime rate in 25 years, in 2007 with 1,800 incidents for every 100,000 people which would be even higher than New York(canada.gc). Canada uses a constitutional Monarchy that uses the Queen, Elizabeth II, as the Head of state. Canada also has a Parliamentary democracy, that includes a federal system and parliamentary government. Stephen Harper is the leader of Canada's Conservative party and the leader of the Liberal party is Stèphane Dion. Since September 27, 2005 Michaèlle Jean was the Governor General.
