Learning Target
I have the reciprocal identities, quotient identities, and Pythagorean
identities memorized.
I know I can use my formula sheet to find the other fundamental
trigonometric identities (pg 374 – blue box).
I can use the fundamental trigonometric identities (pg 374 – blue box)
to evaluate trigonometric functions, simplify trigonometric expressions,
and re-write trigonometric expressions.
I can verify trigonometric identities. I can use the trig identities,
factoring, adding/subtracting fractions, and other simplifying
techniques to make the left and right side of an equation match each
other.
I can use standard algebraic techniques (such as collecting like terms,
square rooting, and factoring) to solve trigonometric equations.
I can identify by the directions how to write my answers (interval or
general). I can write my answers on an interval such as 0, 2  . I can
write my answers in general using expressions like  n or 2 n .
I can solve trigonometric equations using multiple angles (see page 394
ex 7 & 8).
I can use sum and difference formulas to evaluate trigonometric
functions, verify identities, and solve trigonometric equations. I know
where these formulas are on my formula sheet – I know do not have to
memorize them.
I can use double-angle formulas to rewrite, evaluate, or solve
trigonometric functions. I know where these formulas are on my
formula sheet – I know do not have to memorize them.
I can use power-reducing formulas to rewrite and evaluate
trigonometric functions. I know where these formulas are on my
formula sheet – I know do not have to memorize them.
I can use half-angle formulas to rewrite and evaluate trigonometric
functions. I know where these formulas are on my formula sheet – I
know do not have to memorize them.
I can use product-to-sum and sum-to-product formulas to rewrite and
evaluate trigonometric functions. I know where these formulas are on
my formula sheet – I know do not have to memorize them.
I can use trigonometric formulas to rewrite real-life models.
