1 Objectives
This test plan will detail how to demonstrate successful operation of TRAIN by
establishing an approach, sequence, and list of tests to be conducted. TRAIN
provides a central repository of Topics that can be searched and combined into
Courses. These procedures are to verify the stable and correct operation of the
application.

3 Test Plan
3.1 Testing Approach
The correctness of TRAIN will be verified by major functional area then with
integration tests. The functional areas are illustrated in Figure. Correctness will be
verified through the following types of tests:
 User Interface tests to verify the Admin, Instructor, Customer and Student
pages are intuitive, repeatable and meet the requirements.
 Database and Algorithm test to verify the data is stored and searched

according to the specifications.
All tests will be performed at a terminal with access to a server running an
installation of TRAIN. Data will be loaded into the database prior to testing.
Verification of all tests will be completed visually through the application interface
and through a direct connection to the database.

3.5 Resource Requirements







The following resources are needed to setup and run the tests:
A sever running SQL Server 2012 and TRAIN
A computer with SQL Server Management Studio 2012
A computer with the latest version of Chrome or Firefox
A network connection between the server and two computers
Mock data pre-populated in TRAIN
o Several Learning Objectives, Tags, Topics, and References
o Two organizations with two users each
 One with a Student and a Customer
 One with an Administrator and an Instructor
A copy of the test plan
A copy of the user manual
3.6 Test Environment
The test environment will have two computers connected to a single server. An
installation of TRAIN will reside on the server with some mock data already in the
database. One computer will use a web browser to interact with TRAIN. The other
computer will have an instance of SQL Server Management Studio open to monitor
changes to the train database.
