Performance evaluations are an important component of providing regular, ongoing, developmental feedback for student employees of PSU. Performance
evaluations are generally given annually or every six months for student employees. They are used as a development tool, to determine promotions and raises, to
provide reference information, and can help determine corrective action regarding performance.
Performance evaluations are one of the processes of supervision, and are not intended to replace feedback received during conversations or the disciplinary
process. The supervisor is responsible for initiating and completing the performance evaluation. Completed performance evaluations for student employees are
maintained in the staff member’s personnel file kept by the department.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION (please use the following criteria for each performance area)
1 = Below expectations:
Examples: Misses deadlines, does not fully complete tasks, regularly arrives late or unprepared, does not follow procedure
or understand policies, frequently makes errors, does not communicate professionally, and/or does not meet expectations in
overall job performance.
2 = Meets expectations:
Examples: Regularly arrives on time and is prepared, understands policies and procedures, regularly completes
responsibilities of job accurately, and/or meets expectations in overall job performance.
3 = Exceeds expectations:
Examples: Always arrives on time and prepared, able to accurately clarify policies and procedures for others, always
completes responsibilities accurately, role model, and/or exceeds expectations in overall job performance.
