Performance evaluations are generally given annually or every six months for student employees. They are used as a development tool, to determine promotions and raises, to provide reference information, and can help determine corrective action regarding performance. Performance evaluations are one of the processes of supervision, and are not intended to replace feedback received during conversations or the disciplinary process. The supervisor is responsible for initiating and completing the performance evaluation. Completed performance evaluations for student employees are maintained in the staff member’s personnel file kept by the department.
