INTRODUCTION
The PatientView 100 is Medical Memory System’s (MMS) solution to the
problem of Reception to Surgeon communication of Patients’ medical information. This
product is designed to reduce costly mistakes due to problems stemming from
incomplete, inaccurate, or nonexistent information.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
In order to install and use the PatientView 100, you must have the following
hardware and software components:
Hardware

MiniButtonTM
ButtonLinkTM
PatientView 100 Band
The PatientView 100 consists of several hardware parts. The most visible part to the
user is the MiniButtonTM, which is contained within the PatientView 100 Band. This unit
contains the data storage device, which is where patient information is stored and
retrieved from.
Data can be read from the MiniButtonTM using the ButtonLinkTM. The ButtonLinkTM
is a USB attachable unit used to read information from, and write information to, the
MiniButtonTM.
2
A minimum of a Pentium II processor (or similar performance chip) is needed to
support the remainder of the hardware requirements. A minimum of an 8x CDROM is
needed to read the software package from the accompanying CD.
The PatientView 100 package will consist of a minimum of one MiniButtonTM and
PatientView 100 Band, with additional units available for ordering. ButtonLinkTM is a
separate accessory that comes with the purchase of a PatientView 100 package.

Application of the PatientView 100 Band
The PatientView 100 Band consists of a MiniButtonTM encased within a band that
looks similar to a traditional medical band.
Standard Application of the PatientView 100 Band:
1. Prior to the application of the PatientView 100 Band, the receptionist must make sure
all data stored on the PatientView 100 Band is correct.
2. The receptionist will ask the patient to hold out his/her arm.
3. The PatientView 100 Band will then be applied to the free wrist of the patient. This
wrist will be the opposite of the wrist that is holding the traditional medical band.
The band must be securely fastened to the patient; the PatientView 100 should be
tight enough so that the Band cannot slide off the wrist. The band must be loose
enough to allow two fingers to be placed between the band and the wrist of the
patient. This is to avoid injury to the patient.
10
4. Once attached to the patient, the receptionist will verify the information on the
PatientView 100 Band.
5. When verification concludes, the application process of the PatientView 100 Band is
complete.
Disposal of the PatientView 100 Band
In order to dispose the PatientView 100 Band, the nurse or medical staff will take
the band to be incinerated. The MMS Service Representative gives further explanation
of, and training in, this process. The PatientView 100 Band and MiniButtonTM must be
destroyed after one use.

In some cases, slowing down the computer hardware's graphics acceleration may
improve the stability of USB devices.
To adjust the computer hardware's graphics acceleration:
1. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.
3. Click the Settings tab located in the Display Properties dialog box.
4. In the Settings tabbed page, click the Advanced Properties button.
5. Click the Performance tab located in the Advanced Display Properties
dialog box.
6. Drag the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left to slow down the rate.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem:
There is no video displayed when the application is running
Solution:
 Use the Device Manager to verify that the USB Host
Controller has no resource conflicts.
 Slow down the graphics hardware acceleration.
Notes for Windows XP users
At the time of this product's release, Microsoft strongly encouraged companies to
submit their hardware solutions for certification. If a hardware device driver is not
submitted, or does not qualify, for Microsoft certification, a warning message appears.
You may see this message when installing this driver or update. If you do, you
may choose to click the Continue Anyway button. PatientView 100 application has
tested this driver or update on Windows XP, and it does not impair or destabilize your
computer.
If you need more XP-related information, go to the product web site's Help or
speak with Medical Memory System staff.
