Certificated Personnel OP 4113.1.03 ALTERNATE AND FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES FOR NON-SUPERVISORY CERTIFICATED STAFF All alternate and flexible work schedules must meet the operational needs of the department and provide adequate coverage to provide high quality services to students. Each alternate work schedule requires the prior approval of the employee's supervisor. Each flexible work schedule requires the prior approval of the employee's supervisor. A flexible work schedule is defined as a change in the employee's normal work schedule that is one-week duration or less. Such a flexible work schedule must be arranged by mutual agreement of the employee and his/her supervisor; and must be approved in writing using the Flexible Work Schedule form. Flexible Work Schedule Form Distribution: • • • Original to Personnel First copy to supervisor Second copy to employee All certificated staff are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act, and therefore, are not eligible for paid overtime when working an alternate or flexible work schedule.
