Media Release The Hon Greg Hunt MP Member for Flinders Shadow Minister for Climate Action, Environment and Heritage Thursday 8 August 2013 DISABLED RIDING SCHOOL TO RECEIVE $110,000 TO RETURN TO MALABAR HEADLAND An elected Coalition Government will return the original community groups back to Malabar Headland. Restoring the rights of the South East Equestrian Club Inc. and the NSW Rifle Association to return to the Malabar Headland is a priority. The $110,000 start-up grant will allow the equestrian club to purchase portable yards and portable stabling to resume activities on Malabar Headland. The Labor Government terminated the lease of the riding school and the rifle association despite a huge outcry from the local community. The disabled riding school was the only one of its kind in the eastern suburbs. Despite pleas from the community the Labor Government has wasted over half a million dollars on failed court cases, demolishing the riding school structures in their ill-advised decision to force community groups such as the riding school and rifle association off the Malabar Headland. The Coalition is committed to restoring the rights of the existing users of Malabar Headland and will get the disabled riding school back to Malabar to resume their activities.
