using HPLC and Gas Chromatography-Combustion-Isotope Ratio Mass

 Extracted lipids from human plasma. Saponified and hydrogenated plasma
samples.
 Separated isomers of -carotene and retinol using HPLC.
 Prepared 13C all-trans- and 9-cis--carotene doses using crystallization and
HPLC.
 Prepared in vitro model to test -carotene isomerization, i.e. simulated
gastric juice and mixed micelle suspension.
 Isolated mRNA of MT (metallothionine) and Northern blotting for MT in liver
tissues of chicks and chick embryos.
