Selection Process
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist Postgraduate students experiencing
hardship and studying full time in the pasture and animal nutrition field.
Preference will be given to an international student demonstrating financial
need.
1. The value of the scholarship is $2,500 for one year.
2. One (1) scholarship may be awarded by Senate annually on the
recommendation of the Associate Dean (Academic).
An applicant is eligible for the award of a scholarship in a year if, in that year,
the applicant:
a. Has previously studied an undergraduate science degree at The
University of Queensland;
b. Is currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree offered by the School of
Agriculture and Food Science in the plant science and animal nutrition
field
c. Can demonstrate evidence of financial need
d. Applies for the scholarship by the closing date for applications.
Selection of the scholar will be made by a committee comprised of the Head,
School of Agriculture and Food Science or nominee and a teaching staff
member from the field of plant science and animal nutrition. The selection
must be endorsed by the Associate Dean (Academic) before being sent for
approval by the Dean of the UQ Graduate School.
The committee must rank the eligible applicants for the year consecutively in
order of merit, based on, for each applicant:
a. Financial circumstances as evidenced by supporting documentation;
b. Academic achievement in their program to date;
c. Preference will be given to an international student demonstrating
financial need;
d. Other evidence as may be deemed relevant to future success in the
relevant field
e. Any other matters the committee sees fit.
Conditions of
Scholarship
The scholarship is tenable for one year and is subject to the recipient:
a. Maintaining enrolment as a full-time postgraduate student at the
School of Agriculture and Food Science, The University of
Queensland, unless in special circumstances the Associate Dean
(Academic) otherwise determines;
b. Demonstrating satisfactory progress in the program.
c. The funds must not be used for travel or subsistence. The award is to
be used for research materials, analytical services, thesis
preparation/binding, etc.
Application Process
Please complete all sections of the application form including signatures and
ensure that supporting documentation is attached. Completed submissions
are to be emailed to agriculture@uq.edu.au by 5:00pm (AEST) 28 March
2016. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
The Selection Committee may decide to interview short-listed applicants, and
their determination will be considered final; no further communication will be
entered into.

SECTION 4 – SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
1. Eligibility Criteria
Evidence of full time enrolment in a postgraduate research program in the
plant science and animal nutrition field.
2. Academic Merit
For example: Evidence of academic merit will be a GPA of at least 4 in the
previous 4 semesters of the Program as detailed on a transcript of results
For example: Financial need will take into consideration any other scholarship,
bursary, award or benefit, whether governmental or otherwise, the applicant is
receiving. Evidence of financial need may be supplied by a recent Australian Tax
Office Assessment, or similar.
