SIT Meeting for both Options High School and Keys Academy January 28, 2016 Formative assessment: We screened the campus improvement plan during our Wednesday half day staff development. If anyone has any questions please make sure that administration is notified. We will be submitting the plan tomorrow, Friday January 29, 2016. Safety: Students going to the restroom must not be left wondering the halls alone. We need to make sure that we are escorting the students where they are going always. Make sure that we are always out in the hallways during transition and that we remain visible until the halls are cleared. Make sure that the students are not bringing in drinks or food items from the outside. Please go over our expectations for our campuses and that the students are following the guidelines. Be safe, respectful and responsible should be a practice that all of our stakeholders adhere to. Safety Emergency operations procedures (EOP), we need to make sure that we are running the correct safety drills and insuring that we are in compliance with all of our safety requirements for our schools. All teachers need to be consistent with the discipline in the classrooms and also make sure that any suspicious activity is reported to administration. EPAC: EPAC covered the calendars for our next two school years. EPAC went over the two calendars for the next two years and requested that the campuses put in some suggestions and approve them. We suggested that for the next two years we come back from winter intersession on the 3rd and have the students come back on the 4th for both years since we always comply with more than the minimum requirements of the mandated days and minutes of instruction mandated by the state. These calendars will be voted on and adopted on Friday 1-29-2015 Since we will not be coming into school on the 17th due to the Pope’s visit, we will not need to make that day up since every year we provide extra days and extra minutes of instruction for such unforeseen circumstances. Both of our campuses approved the two calendars as long as our recommendations are considered. There will be a Mother-Daughter conference at Pebble Hills and a robot competition. There will also be a math competition at East Lake High School. Budget: Technology purchases for Options HS: 60 student computers were purchased and one teacher computer. KEYS Academy still has $4000 that needs to be spent by Friday January 29th 2016. One of our teachers asked for a computer cart, and that will more than likely be purchased and eventually filled with laptops. Options has the priority grant moneys which will be used to purchase computers for the classrooms, and the older computers Options has can be donated to KEYS Academy. KEYS teachers need to make sure that they are aware of the internet as well as electrical drops in their classroom. They need to make sure that the classroom can accommodate the extra computers that they will need. State and federal funds such as title one funds need to be spent by tomorrow, Friday January 29th 2016. Other: Friday Jean day reward for students with perfect attendance will begin the first Friday in February. We will see how the students respond. The students with perfect attendance for the week will be given a ticket to allow them to wear jeans on the following Friday. We will make sure that they are on the list, and the students needs to make sure that they have their ticket. The students that participate in the perfect attendance Friday Jean Day must still follow the rules that will be provided to them. The jeans cannot be torn or worn below the waist. The jeans must not be skin tight or too baggy. If the students do not follow the requirements they will have consequences that will be enforced. Cesar Chaves has an anger management program that has been in place for some time. The anger management program that they have has a counseling service and allows students to be provided with counseling services that are monitored through CIS and the parent liaison. We will ask our district’s auditors to see if they agree on having such services here. The services are paid with the students’ insurance and Medicare. Most of our students have one or both of these. We will check with our district’s auditors and with East Lake High School to see how these services can be approved at our school. We understand that East Lake High School is already providing these services. The drug dog must be brought in more often, and random pat downs out in the hall ways for our students need to take place more often, preferably while the drug dog is inspecting the classroom. The drug dog will also inspect vehicles and if a community education participant’s vehicle is found with possession of a controlled substance then, the same procedure will be followed as for our students. Our daycare will be built. Services will be free for those who qualify based on income. We will consider persons in need and those that are within the district’s boundaries first. Region 19 and people from the district will be looking at our progress from our staff developments. We will have instructional rounds to support the instructional framework on Friday January 29, 2016. Finally, the minutes from the benefits committee were passed out and discussed. These minutes are attached below. Benefits Committee Meeting 1/07/2016 1. Our benefits department will visit these clinics to see how accessible they are for our employees. - Volunteers were selected to facilitate this process 3. The last of the bingo forms were collected and the winners will be announced during the January board meeting. 4. We brainstormed health activities for our next up-coming months. 5. Health fairs were discussed and each school discussed the health fairs that go on at the different campuses. 6. TPA – Third Party Administrator – All employees need to update their enrollment in the available health plan options that we have. We must go online and check our benefits and print out the confirmation page showing what option we are enrolled in. We will have a refresher course explaining what the three options cover. The user friendliness of the website for reenrollment will be more manageable. All employees must also be aware of the pros and cons on selecting the dental, vision, and disability and life insurance options. 7. Our Insurance provider will merge with another company, and the merger will not affect our benefits or our employee rates. 8. Any future upgrades that will be done to our district’s benefits system will not increase our individual member contributions, but may increase our district’s contributions. 9. Make sure that when you have a biopsy; tell your doctor to code the procedure as preventative medicine. If the doctor codes the procedure as needed to treat a diagnosis, then the lab tests must be paid out of pocket.
