TAKS STRATEGIES 1. Use context clues for unknown vocabulary words (use other words) 2. Use Four “I”’s to select correct answer. 3. Elimination – narrow answers to “BEST” choice/read carefully, don’t go for first choice, eliminate silly answers. DO NOT GUESS. (especially in Math, increase your odds!) 4. REVIEW BIOLOGY TERMS and Vocabulary. 5. Re-read questions. 6. Highlight/Write Notes/Draw pictures on test 7. Watch for “tricky” words (NOT, without, except, etc.) 8. Look for patterns or trends in data. (numbers doubling, increasing by a certain amount, etc.) 9. Use your Formula Chart to find unknown equations to solve problems. 10. Read ENTIRE question before answering so you don’t miss details. 11. When working equations, be careful to set up problems correctly and watch out for Conversions. 12. Skip hard questions for later and work easier questions first 13. Double check your work, go back and check to make sure all your answers have been bubbled in.
