Do you have a great topic that you would like to present to students at UTSA? The Student
Activities Risk Management Symposium is seeking educational session proposals for the 2008
conference to be held on Saturday, February 9 from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM in the UTSA
University Center.
What is Risk Management Symposium?
Risk Management Symposium is an all day risk management conference for students at UTSA.
The purpose is to:
 Provide opportunities for students to learn from each other and community members
 Provide participants the opportunity to learn practical risk management skills
 Raise alcohol and drug awareness to decrease underage drinking and high risk drinking
 Educate students on reducing personal risks and raising healthy attitudes
 Partner with community agencies and establishments
 Decrease the misuse of alcohol and drugs
What topics will sessions cover?
 Alcohol: understanding BAC, University Polices and State Laws, alcohol poisoning,
alcohol and sexual behavior, and underage drinking prevention
 Drugs: University Polices and State Laws, interventions, recognizing abuse
 General Risk Management: creating and working with a risk management policy,
reducing personal and organizational risks, travel procedures for organizations
 Hazing: definition of hazing, how to report hazing, appropriate bonding and leadership
activities for groups and organizations
 Internet Safety: understanding Facebook, MySpace and other online networking sites
Miscellaneous Information
 Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all presenters.
 Presenter is responsible for providing copies of handouts to all participants
 Presenter is responsible for providing their own computer/laptop if one is needed for their
session.

 Complete the Educational Session Proposal Form by Friday, January 18, 2008.
