EPAC Minutes: None this month due to the meeting being scheduled for after our SIT meeting.
Safety Concern: Our fire drill went well, 1 minute and 31 seconds. Please be aware that the side
doors of our building are NOT to be used during the school day. You must enter and exit thru
the front doors at all times. There are exceptions, janitors and coaches may use them as needed.
Our Fire Marshall visit went well.
Veteran’s Day Parade: What went well? We had a great turnout for both participants as well as
audience. If there is anything that needs to be tweaked, please let Darlene Chavez know, send
her an email. Now the Veteran’s Day Committee will turn into the 25th Anniversary/Time
Capsule Committee. The event is scheduled for May 20th.
Benchmark Test Results (preliminary): 3rd grade Reading (+9.03%) Math (+1.16), 4th grade
Reading (-10.56) Math (-7.39) Writing (-1.27), 5th grade Reading (+2.92) Math (+5.92) Science
(+9.01). We need extra support in 4th grade due to teacher absences.
Eduphoria Documentation: All students that are Tier 3 must have interventions logged in
Eduphoria in journal tab. It is a non-negotiable. If they are passing then you can comment by
saying, “Passing, none needed at this time.” There must be documentation in order to be able to
RTI.
Christmas Presentations: There will be a K-1st presentation on December 16th and 2nd & SPED
Units on December 17th, 5:30-6:30.
SISD AP: It is up and running, there is a lot of access for parents as well as teachers. Great tool
for communication with parents. Will talk to Hector Reyna to set up training with parents to sign
up for the Ap.
Tutoring: Remember to share students that are needed in tutoring for more than one content
area.
Teacher Attendance: It has been a mile long. If humanly possible, please try to be here, family is
first.
Ceiling Tile Contest: Congrats to all the winners. Email was sent out with winners listed.
Multiplication Stairwell: Looks great, have gotten great compliments from visitors. Other
schools are following suit.
Fall Fundraiser: Considering on something quick; VIB Cards bombed; there is a shortfall in funds
this year.
Coffee with the Principal (Principal/Parent Power Hour): Inviting Hector Reyna to help with the
SISD Ap, possibly on December 3rd or 9th.



Generation Texas Week: Calendars of events were distributed to teachers. Some parents were
concerned that have not been receiving such flyers. It was brought up to specifically speak to
the teachers that are not sending out flyers on a consistent basis instead of in general. 2nd-5th
participated in a DEA presentation on early release. Ceiling tiles are due Nov. 20th. Canned foods
are encouraged for Thanksgiving Baskets that will be given to Benito Families first, if any
leftover; they will be donated to a food pantry or other organization. Please keep all items in
classroom until Monday.
Health Fair: At this time it will be rescheduled.
Upcoming events:
o Science Night: will take place either late January or early February.
o Science Fair: Update, Sophia from 3rd grade placed in 2nd place.
o Lock IN November 20th
o Faculty Christmas Party: December 18th Date is available at Surprise Hall.
o Christmas Fair: December 16-17th 10-7pm, $15 per table per day or $25 dollars per table
for both days.
 Reporting out by Grade Levels:
o Kinder: None
o 1st:Dates for Christmas fair
o 2nd: None
o 3rd: Pencil sharpener needed downstairs in teacher’s lounge.
o 4th: None
o 5th: Parents being allowed to go to the classroom during instruction time is a concern as
well as being interrupted with phone calls by Leslie with parents having questions.
Please email Mr. Hatch if it continues to happen. This should not be happening during
instructional time. This will be addressed to Leslie.
o SPED: none
o PE: None
 Reporting by Stakeholders:
o Parents: Ms. Candelaria present. Yearbook Club has been gracious enough in helping
out with food donations for food baskets. Angel Tree will be set up December 4th and
items due by December 14th. AttenDANCE will be on December 18th, make sure to keep
track of attendance. Kinder Hall, kids peeing in the corner. It was suggested to have
Nurse Gloria to talk to classes about hygiene. Make sure that parents have gone thru
the Orientation class for parents to be able to volunteer. Let Darlene or Ms. Candelaria
know.
o Business: NONE, no one present
o DSC, Lily Carrillo: Bilingual Department will have ELPS training on Dec 2nd, am and a pm
session so that you can sign up. SIOP day 2 will be December 9th. In January there will be
trainings with Instructional Officers and Bilingual Department on Writing, Science,
Vocabulary, etc.
