2016 Outstanding Graduate Award
The AAPIFSA Outstanding Graduate Award is given each year to a graduating senior who has made a significant
impact on campus and/or in the community, as well as demonstrates leadership potential. The award recipient
will be recognized at the API Graduate Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 1:00pm at the TSU.
Application Process & Topic:
 Must complete the attached application, half-page biography, and a detailed resume highlighting your
achievements
 Must submit a brief written speech of about 2 to 3 minutes describing what motivates and inspires you to
continue your leadership and service in your community after graduation. Please highlight past
involvements you have accomplished on- or off-campus or within the API community.
 Selected applicants will be contacted to meet for a brief interview and to read their speech in front of the
selection committee. Must be available between April 18th – 22nd to meet with the committee as needed.
Eligibility Criteria:
 Must be a graduating senior or graduating graduate student.
 Must be currently enrolled with a min. of 6 units for undergraduate and 3 units for graduate students.
 Must have CSUF cumulative GPA of 2.50 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates.
 Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at Cal State Fullerton.
 Must be a registered participant for the Asian and Pacific Islander Graduate Recognition Ceremony
Selection Criteria:
 Demonstrate exceptional service and leadership to on-and/or off-campus community.
 Demonstrate potential to motivate and inspire fellow graduates and guests through their speech.
Benefits:
 $500 award (check will be mailed 4-6 weeks after the ceremony)
 Certificate of Achievement to be presented at the API Graduate Recognition Ceremony
 Award recipient will be recognized and have an opportunity to share their accomplishments with others at
the API Graduate Recognition Ceremony
Additional requirement:
 Award recipient is required to work with the selection committee to revise and refine her/his speech from the
time of selection through the ceremony.
