Background:
The Office of Internal Audit and Advisory Services will offer an internship fall semester 2014. This
position will be a highly competitive position which up to two students will be selected. This course will be
3 credit hours. A minimum of 12 hours per week will be required. Work schedules are flexible but limited
to Monday through Friday. This position will be located on the GCSU main campus and is subject to a
criminal background check. An hourly stipend may be available based on budgets funded. Letters of

Position Description:
This position will perform internal audit advisory services and create educational awareness materials on
internal controls. The internal control reviews will have a strong focus in evaluating the campus’ control
environment and implementation of internal controls. As part of the Office of Internal Audit, you will be
meeting with various units heads to access departmental risks and recommend improved control
structures. Successful candidates will need to have sharp written and analytical skills. In addition, you
will assist the internal auditor in performing audits, special projects, follow-up reviews, and report writing.
Responsibilities will include planning internal reviews, performing fieldwork, developing work papers, and
report writing. Intern must be willing to work with GCSU senior management and staff to determine
compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as compliance to Federal, State, and University
System of Georgia Board of Regents regulations.
Qualifications

Education: A prerequisite in ACCT 4135 Auditing or equivalent is required.

Ability to work independently with limited direction and guidance.

Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels of management, staff, and
others.

Clear and effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
