Introducing …
Our New 4-H Agent
There’s a new face in town. You may know
Mrs. Samantha Kroll from the Ag Learning
Center, where she served as Director.
She joined the Miller County Extension
Service as 4-H Agent, May 2, 2016. We
are very excited to have her on our team.
She comes to us with a wealth of
knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm.
Please join with us as we welcome her to
our Extension family!
Mrs. Kroll has a Master of Science degree from Southern Arkansas University
and has been involved in some facet of agriculture her entire life. She and
husband Cliff have one son, Guy Cooper. They live on a farm and have three
broiler houses and cattle that keep them busy.
She was also an active member of 4-H for 10+ years. Her projects consisted of
showing and raising hogs and cattle. Two-year-old Guy Cooper is already
following in his momma’s footsteps, helping raise and show cattle and a hog
named Sweet Potato.

Investigation
Enclosed you will find a Quad County Camp application. Quad
County camp encompasses 4 counties – Miller, Howard, Little
River, & Sevier. Each county retains 20 spots for this camp,
which includes agents. This means that for Miller County, there
are only 17 spots available for 4-H’ers (which includes
teen leaders) and 1 spot for an adult.
We will reserve spots on a FIRST COME FIRST PAY basis,
meaning that the first 17 4-H’ers & 1 adult who send back their
applications with their money will be registered to go. However,
we will also make a waiting list on the chance that someone
that pays & registers can’t go (or another county has potential
spots available due to lack of registration in their county). Cost
per applicant (including adults) is $50.
Deadline for registering is Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
We are looking for a fresh name for this Newsletter.

What is the best way to find it? … Of course, ask the
Miller County 4-H Club Members. After all, it is your
newsletter.
Please email your suggestions to: skroll@uaex.edu.
We will put it to a vote and announce the new title in
upcoming newsletters. Deadline is June 24, 2016 so
we can vote and have it ready for the July edition.
Thank you for your help!
Want to Attend a Free Concert?
We have a wonderful opportunity to partner again with a local venue and support our 4-H Youth Development
program. How would you like to see a free concert or event at Verizon Arena and help out the Arkansas 4-H
program at the same time? Guess what – we can make this happen.
We are seeking volunteers (friends, neighbors, sons/ daughters), as long as they are 18 years or older. The
individual volunteering does not have to be an employee of extension nor affiliated with the 4-H program.
However, volunteers should understand that they are the face of the University of AR Cooperative Extension
Service when they serve in this capacity. Choose those who will be responsible & represent Extension and 4-H
in a positive manner.
Money earned by the hours volunteers work will come to a central 4-H account at Extension to provide
opportunities for youth involved in the 4-H program. What an awesome way to give to 4-H and be entertained at
the same time!! Email your name to Scott Rutstein at srutstein@uaex.edu for upcoming shows.
