Workday labor commitment accounting in Workday has been configured to discover the data
available for reporting
The methodology for calculating obligated labor costs are quite different between the two
systems
o FAS essentially recalculates obligations each pay cycle based on distributions in HEPPS
o Workday essentially calculates monthly amounts of obligated labor, separately calculates
monthly adjustments based on labor changes, and in addition liquidates monthly
amounts as time passes
It was discovered that the data does support FAS encumbrances or a direct integration with
MyFD, it was previously thought that Workday could not support FAS encumbrances because
the object coding was missing for the committed salary data
A formal change request is in process which will recommend one of two options:
o Integration with FAS to create encumbrances
o Integration with MyFD to display salary and benefits obligated/encumbered
