A wrongful conviction
Everyday Several kinds of things happen around us. Some of them are good things and
some of them are bad. We try to avoid bad things, but our destiny sometimes doesn’t gives us
support. In our society we have some rules to protect crime. Although we have good court
system, sometimes people are punished for those crimes that they didn’t commit. I have one
story about an innocent man who didn’t commit crime, but he was in prison for twenty one
years.
This story is about Scott Fappiano. He was in prison for twenty one years charged for a
rape. His mother says it was a bad day for him when he got arrested. The Brooklyn woman was
raped by a person in1983. Her husband is a police officer, but he was tied up while his wife was
raped. When I read this case several question aroused in my mind. First of all, why Fappiano got
arrested? Only because of her picture got flipped with the rapist. This is not a reason of arresting
any person. Also victim’s husband didn’t recognize Fappiano, because the rapist was five incise
taller than Fappiano. Blood test also didn’t match with Fappiano, then why Fappiano was
arrested? There must be something wrong. If our police department does this kind of things then
our society’s people will be misguided. If all of this evidence didn’t match with Fappiano then
why should he be poisoned for twenty one years? Is there any personal enemy who did this to
take revenge with Fappiano? This case was very confusing to normal people. After twenty one
years he gets an evidence of DNA test. Then he was proved innocent. If this DNA tests done
twenty one years ago then his life would have been wasted in prison. In reality it is very bitter.
DNA stands for any of various nuclear acids that are to prove of heredity. DNA test is very

Proving a person that he/she is guilty or not. So in that case Fappiano lawyer should have
thought about this test twenty one years ago. Also where did the real rapist vanish? We didn’t see
any article about that real rapist. This case is a horrifying example for normal people. People will
be scared to listen about this case.
Finally, this is a wrongful conviction. We are normal people don’t have enough
knowledge about the court system. We can say that Fappiano had bad luck that’s why he
suffered in jail without doing anything wrong. Fappiano case should be an example for us that
teach us to be careful with our police and court system. This case gives us a wrong impression;
to reduce that wrong impression our police department should be careful about those sensitive
matters.
