Maria Trujillo AMM 101.0046 Prof. Iannuzzo May 12, 2009 Using the Internet to Shop Nowadays is very common that people use the Internet to make any kind of shopping. There is no need to go out to the mall or even to the grocery store in order to obtain the products people need. All consumers need to do is navigate through the Internet and there they will find a great variety of products ready to be shipped with the only the need of one click. Consumers will tend to buy certain products instead of others over the Internet. Even though some people would differ in opinions, I think the best products to sell online are clothing and small electro domestics from well-know brands. People tend to rely on well-know brands because they know the product quality that they will obtain, for these reason consumers will tend to buy certain products over the Internet. Books, cds and video games are common items shopped online too. Sometimes consumers will get a better deal buying these items through the Internet than on the stores. The most helpful fact from shopping online is that it does not matter if it is snowing, raining or 100 degrees outside, consumers could still make the shopping that they need. Online stores are open 24/7 and on holidays. Things that would be difficult to purchase online are shoes, cars, houses and jewelry. Mostly larger products and things that need to be tangible are difficult to purchase online. My opinion is that pictures are not 100% reliable I need to feel and to see certain things by myself in order to purchase them. I think that the advertisement of its larger products its what make people to buy these products but not online. Advertisement over the Internet has some influence in the consumer’s decision to purchase a product because the consumer would see the product online, get interested in it and then go to the store and purchase it. I have purchased clothing, books and toys online. Until now my experience has been satisfactory. Some of the items that I bought were not available in stores or sometimes it was cheaper to buy them online rather than going to a store to obtain them. Shopping online has been an agreeable experience for me. If I want to be greedy I can even add up the money that I saved on transportation (when I get the items delivered for free) and I would say that my shopping experience online was prosperous. Sometimes the lack of time is an issue in a busy workplace, buying its supplies online would save the company time and even money. Staples.com has some interesting deals if the consumers buy larger quantities of a product, some of the are: free delivery in orders greater than $50, discount when buying at large and reward points. Usually in any kind of business if a customer buys at bulk he/she might get a discount, this is the most outstanding difference between making a personal purchase and a business purchase. Is not common that a sole customer will make a purchase greater than $50, if the customer orders less than this amount then shipping and handling fees will be charged. The discount will depend on the quantity of a product that the business buys from Staples. Shopping online has changed radically the way that consumers make their purchases. It has done the experience of shopping easier and faster, but on the other hand consumers spend most time in front of a computer searching for better specials instead of physically interacting with people. Every person is different and as consequence has different preferences, until now I agree with the people who think that Internet has made our shopping experience more manageable and simple
