Ivette Urbina Prof Garder HUC 108 2325 4/18/09 Three, two, one as the cameras were focusing on the three newscasters it seemed as though they had many things on their mind to say but did no know where to start. All three Mathews, Olberman, and Maddow had a look of argumentativeness which gave them the ability to recognize controversial issues and to attack the position of Governor Bobby Jindal in the republican response. Olberman had a grin and let Maddows communicate with her astonished look. All three newscasters allowed themselves to position their opinions to their favor while still being able to stay ethical. “Invoke government failure as a model to make the government move forward. Maddows sarcastically took this position against what republicans felt was a way to fix the economy. All sides took their turn to face the issues; they also agreed on the same issues and were relevant in their discussion. Witting comments were made by all the presenters allowing their communication competence to show. When Maddow and Olberman had no words to describe how they felt about Jindals response on Katrina. The presenters were not aggressive but sarcastic and allowed for one of the presenters to respond in a quick synthesis of what the republican response accomplished. All three commentators were able to mange their anxiety towards Jindal’s speech in a subtle manner. They showed their disagreements in a considerably respectful tone showing that they were not convinced by republican comments. Their job at facing controversial issues is not simple, however their conflict negotiation skills helps them to succeed.
