A manager is an individual who coordinates an organization’s resources to achieve the goals of the organization. 2. The mission of a neighborhood restaurant would be to provide a quality food and service to the neighborhood’s residents. For the Salvation Army, it would be to collect enough donations to make a difference in the world. An objective for the restaurant might be to send out surveys to the neighborhood, collect information on the favorable foods of the neighborhood, and prepare a menu to accommodate the residents. An objective for the Salvation Army could be to allow the public to see how their donations have been put to use. If the public sees the benefits of their donations, they will continue to donate. 4. A strategy is the broadest set of plans that develops a guide for major policy setting and decision making. A strategy can cover a 5-year span. A tactical plan is on a smaller scale compared to that of the strategy and is developed to implement the tactics set forth in the strategy. This plan usually covers a length of about 1 year. The operational plan is designed to carry out the details of the tactical plan. Also spanning over the length of a year, the operational plan is set to accomplish the specific objectives of an organization. The common factor of the strategy, the tactical plan, and the operational plan is that they are all geared to accomplish and complete the same organizational goal. 5. A manager organizes all aspects of the company to accomplish the end goal efficiently and effectively. This is done to maintain order and control in producing a service or product. A well organized production line leads to dependable and quality service and products. 6. Money is not the only motivation of employees. Another motivation may be to get ahead in a company. Managers need to do an effective job in appealing to all of his/her employees’ motivations. If this is accomplished, employees will be content and satisfied. Content and satisfied employees will lead to profitable production of services and products.
