Task 1 activities (FDDI-grade/OM2/OM3 fiber model)
Potential improvements to the 81-fiber model for FDDI-grade MMF identified:
“kink” perturbations – some relevant index-profile data has been
identified and shared within the Task
additional central/edge perturbations – the effect of an additional
central perturbation is under investigation and preliminary results
have been generated and shared
scaling – the suggestion of scaling the 81 fibers to the OFL BWL
specification, rather than a worst-case DMD, is under investigation
and preliminary results have been generated and shared
OM3 Monte-Carlo model adjusted for 1.3-mm operation and released
FDDI-grade Monte-Carlo model in preparation
