Corrections on IEEE 802.16m Protocol Structure Diagrams Lei Huang Panasonic Singapore Laboratories Isamu Yoshii Panasonic Corporation Introduction Current Figures 9, 10, 11 and 14 are not uniform to the current SDD texts on the IEEE 802.16m protocol structure in Section 8.1. For example, according to the current SDD texts in Section 8.1, Interference Management is a functional block and is not a part of PHY Control block. However, in Figures 9, 10, 11, and 14, Interference Management is a part of PHY Control block. In addition, according to the current SDD texts in Section 8.1, MAC includes the Inte-BS Coordination block. However, Figures 9, 10, and 11 do not include Inter-BS Coordination block. As a result, Figures 9, 10, 11 and 14 need modifications to keep uniformity with the current SDD texts in Section 8.1. 1 IEEE C802.16m-08/1305 Proposed Changes: [Replace Figure 9 with the following figure:] Network Layer C_SAP M_SAP CS_SAP Convergence Sublayer System configuration management Relay Functions Radio Resource Management Location management Multi-Carrier Mobility Management Idle Mode Management MBS Self Organization Network-entry Management Security management Service flow and Connection Management Classification Header suppression MAC_SAP Radio Resource Control and Management (RRCM) ARQ Medium Access Control (MAC) QoS Fragmentation/Packing Multi Radio Coexistence Inter-BS Coordination Sleep Mode Management Scheduling and Resource Multiplexing MAC PDU formation PHY control Data Forwarding Interference Management Ranging Control Signaling Link Adaptation (CQI, HARQ, power control) Encryption Data Plane Control Plane Physical Layer [Replace Figure 10 with the following figure:] C_SAP M_SAP Network Layer Relay Functions Radio Resource Management Location management System configuration management Multi-Carrier Support Mobility Management Idle Mode Management MBS Self-Organization Network-entry Management Security management Service Flow and Connection Management Convergence Sublayer MAC Common Part Sublayer Inter-BS Coordination Sleep Mode Management QoS Scheduling and Resource Multiplexing Multi-Radio Coexistence PHY control Data Forwarding Interference management Ranging Link Adaptation (CQI, HARQ, power control) Control Signaling PHY control signaling Physical Layer 2 ARQ Fragmentation/Packing MAC PDU formation Encryption IEEE C802.16m-08/1305 [Replace Figure 11 with the following figure:] C_SAP M_SAP Network Layer Relay Functions Multi-Carrier Support Self-Organization Radio Resource Management Location Management System configuration management Mobility Management Idle Mode Management MBS Network entry management Security management Service Flow and Connection Management Convergence Sublayer MAC Common Part Sublayer Sleep Mode Management Inter-BS Coordination QoS Scheduling and Resource Multiplexing Multi-Radio Coexitence ARQ Fragmentation/Packing PHY Control Data Forwarding Interference management Ranging Link Adaptation (CQI, HARQ, power control) PHY control signaling Physical Layer 3 MAC PDU formation Control Signaling Encryption IEEE C802.16m-08/1305 [Replace Figure 14 with the following figure:] Location management C_SAP M_SAP Relay Functions Multi-Carrier Support Mobility Management Self-Organization Network-entry Management MBS Security management Radio Resource Control and Management (RRCM) ARQ Medium Access Control (MAC) Sleep Mode Management QoS Scheduling and Resource Multiplexing PHY control Data Forwarding Interference management Ranging Link Adaptation (CQI, HARQ, power control) Control Plane Control Signaling Fragmentation/Packing MAC PDU formation Data Plane Physical Layer 4
