MFSK vs. CDM

CDM

Single frequency network

All Preambles are interlaced on frequency domain
ABSs not included in NDR-ADV do not interfere
Macro ABS
CSG femto BSs do not create interference to Macro
ABS
Detecting both macro BS and femto BS at
the same time is feasible due to frequency
domain interlaced signal
Low complexity: only 12 subcarriers
correlation detection can be applied
More sequences: 17 sequences
CSG femto BS does not cause huge SApreamble detection
Not single frequency network due to the
ABSs not included in NDR-ADV

Hotzone, OSG femto BS and CSG femto BS create
interference to macro cell
Detecting both macro BS and femto BS at
the same time is not feasible due to 10dB
power difference
High complexity: at least 216 subcarriers
differential detection is necessary
Less sequences: 11 sequences
CSG femto BS shall causes huge PAPreamble detection

• Both design provides similar performance
Conclusion
• MFSK PA-Preamble provides more system features
comparing to CDM PA-Preamble
– Detect multiple BS types at the same time
– Less detection complexity
– CSG femto BS can be distinguished in case of introducing
redundant SA-Preamble detection
– More PA-Preamble sequences
• MFSK PA-Preamble provides similar performance to
CDM PA-Preamble
• Adopt the proposed text #6 in C802.16m-09/0894r2
