Within radial basis functions, interesting questions are related to the scale
parameter. RBF practitioners have known for a long time that a proper scaling of
the basis functions plays a very important role.
In this talk, we present a different approach to the problem by defining new
transformed kernels based on classical RBFs that allow us to change the kernel
scale locally depending on the requirements of the applications.
