Jan 1st 1991 (Tuesday): New Year’s Day! Cold today high of 32 degrees.
Cooked black-eyed peas.
Jan 2nd 1991 (Wednesday): Had a hole come in the drain line under the sink &
had to go get a piece for it.
Jan 3rd 1991 (Thursday): Had to take Arvie for check-up on his eye so he went
shopping with me & then to the eye doctor at 1pm. He said his eye was ok.
Jan 4th 1991 (Friday): Made Chocolate Covered Pecan & some with Bark &
some with Butterscotch.
Jan 5th 1991 (Saturday): Pump sprung a leak & had to go to Magnolia for part to
that. Went to Shelda Hines wedding tonight, she married Bill Shackleford. Sure
pretty wedding. Rained all night.
Jan 6th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice & rained all day today. Must have
got 3 inches all together.
Jan 7th 1991 (Monday): Getting ready for Garden Club here tomorrow. Making
Chicken Salad & Cream Cheese Tarts. Cleaned all day.
Jan 8th 1991 (Tuesday): Fixed sandwiches. Arvie went to town. Had 5 women
& myself made 6 for Garden Club. Had a good time. Appointed Melba Jean as
president. Warm 48 degrees.
Jan 9th 1991 (Wednesday): Rested & got the quilt out & started quilting, so good
to get back at that. Still warm.
Jan 10th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & to the bank. Quilted this afternoon.
46 degrees this morn.
Jan 11th 1991 (Friday): Quilted quite a bit today. Cooked. Still 46 degrees this
morn.
Jan 12th 1991 (Saturday): 36 degrees this morn & the sun came out this
afternoon. The sun hasn’t shined all day since Dec 8th. Finished middle & one
end of quilt.
Jan 13th 1991 (Sunday): 28 degrees this morn & fair and a big frost. Stayed fair
all day & got up to 45 degrees. Went to church twice.
Jan 14th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry & it was a dry day but little sunshine. High
today 46 degrees. Nancy’s birthday 40 years old.
Jan 15th 1991 (Tuesday): Rained here all day must have got 2 inches. This is
Mary’s birthday 52 years old today. Our fuel tank on the car sprung a leak. We
got a new tank ordered. Finished all of one end of quilt.
Jan 16th 1991 (Wednesday): 42 degrees here this morn & sun shined most of
day after it burned off the fog. At 6pm tonight the war started in Iraq.
Jan 17th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping today was raining we must have got 1
inch of rain.
Jan 18th 1991 (Friday): Worked on q puzzle some. Got the quilt all done.
Hemmed about half of it.
Jan 19th 1991 (Saturday): Finished hemming the quilt. Got it all done. Worked
on puzzle that Leah gave me for Christmas.
Jan 20th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice & nothing else.
Jan 21st 1991 (Monday): Did laundry hung out clothes today a little sunshine.
Jan 22nd 1991 (Tuesday): Worked on puzzle. Went to Sunshine Club at church
but Arvie didn’t go. I had to give devotional.
Jan 23rd 1991 (Wednesday): Worked on puzzle.
Jan 24th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & Arvie went back to eye doctor &
has to go back next Thursday.
Jan 25th 1991 (Friday): Finished up puzzle & cooked.
Jan 26th 1991 (Saturday): Our car is leaking (the gas tank) & we can’t get a new
tank.
Jan 27th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn but didn’t go tonight. 56
degrees today.
Jan 28th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Arvie took car to garage at Bridge’s down
close to Rudds Crossing. They are going to get a tank & put it on for him.
Jan 29th 1991 (Tuesday): Real cloudy & looks like rain. Went to Bible Study last
night & will go again tonight if it’s the Lords will.
Jan 30th 1991 (Wednesday): Henry Doyce died yesterday so I guess we will go
to the funeral tomorrow. Didn’t get to go to Bible Study. Mr. Blakely died today.
Jan 31st 1991 (Thursday): Went to Gilmer to Dorothy’s & to the funeral got back
here just after dark & made the trip fine.
Feb 1st 1991 (Friday): Went shopping today. Arvie had to cancel his eye
appointment. I called & made an appointment with Dr. Pullig as I am having
numb arm & chest pains. Will go Wednesday. Went to Mr. Blakely’s funeral this
afternoon.
Feb 2nd 1991 (Saturday): Sat & the ground hog saw his shadow.
Feb 3rd 1991 (Sunday): Went to Sunday School & church but Arvie is sick, he
went to Dr. Grimmett tonight.
Feb 4th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry & a pretty day.
Feb 5th 1991 (Tuesday): I went to WMU. Didn’t feel very good. Had 5 present.
Feb 6th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to town & to the Doctor. He called Dr. Bennett
& he will call back.
Feb 7th 1991 (Thursday): Dr. Bennett called last night & I go in to Little Rock
next Monday the 11th.
Feb 8th 1991 (Friday): Arvie got better but now he feels worse. His kidneys
won’t act. He quit taking the medicine.
Feb 9th 1991 (Saturday): Alice & Don was here when I got up this morn. Bill &
Ruth & Steve & Sandy were all here for supper. Alice put a puzzle partway
together.
Feb 10th 1991 (Sunday): Alice & Don cleaned house & they left at noon or little
after.
Feb 11th 1991 (Monday): Went to Little Rock this morn & Bill & Ruth followed us.
Dr. Bennett put me in hospital this afternoon.
Feb 12th 1991 (Tuesday): Went down & had dye test made at 10:30am.
Feb 13th 1991 (Wednesday): Went down for Audioplazy at 11am. Went into
short stay about noon. Stayed all night.
Feb 14th 1991 (Thursday): They took out tubes at 10:30am. Sent me back to
room still flat of back till 6:30pm. How awful. Got up at 6:30 & used bathroom
feel much better.
Feb 15th 1991 (Friday): Walked some in hall. Went down to do treadmill test at
9:30am. Did real good, Thank God, & left Little Rock at 12:30 for home. Got
home OK. Cold today.
Feb 16th 1991 (Saturday): Good to be home. Melba Jean brought up chicken &
pie last night. Sure was good.
Feb 17th 1991 (Sunday): Just sit & lay around. Feel OK.
Feb 18th 1991 (Monday): Arvie & I did laundry. Raining today, got about 3
inches yesterday & today.
Feb 19th 1991 (Tuesday): Still sitting & laying around. Alice left a puzzle partly
put together, but I don’t feel like working on it much. Got lots of get well cards.
Ruth’s sister Darlene is down visiting her.
Feb 20th 1991 (Wednesday): Not doing much can’t eat hardly anything that is
good. No sweets & seasoning.
Feb 21st 1991 (Thursday): Arvie went to eye doctor & he is sending him to Dr.
McDonald to make his glasses. He did the grocery shopping. He did pretty
good.
Feb 22nd 1991 (Friday): Rained all night & all day today. 42 degrees this morn.
Feb 23rd 1991 (Saturday): Got 2.8 inches of rain but pretty today. Mrs. Blakely
& Hazel came out & brought fruit.
Feb 24th 1991 (Sunday): Sun is shining again today & 41 degrees this morn was
36 degrees yesterday morn. Arvie went to S.S. & church. Had 125 in church &
12 in our class.
Feb 25th 1991 (Monday): Raining had to do what laundry I did & dry in dryer.
Feb 26th 1991 (Tuesday): Arvie went to get his glasses made today I went with
him & went to Walmarts.
Feb 27th 1991 (Wednesday): Rained again & got 1.8 inches of rain.
Feb 28th 1991 (Thursday): Today is David’s birthday & talked to him yesterday &
said they might come down in April or May.
Mar 1st 1991 (Friday): Windy today & cold 35 degrees this morn & raining got .2
inches of rain. Arvie went & picked up his glasses this afternoon.
Mar 2nd 1991 (Saturday): Arvie says his glasses distorts everything. Still windy
but sun is shining.
Mar 3rd 1991 (Sunday): Arvie went to S.S. & church said we had 13 in our class.
Sunny today & warmer.
Mar 4th 1991 (Monday): Helen Blakely & Gracie Prejeou brought out a vine plant
from the S.S. Class as Mrs. Powell donated it. Did laundry today & worked to
much. Kinda sick tonight
Mar 5th 1991 (Tuesday): Bonnie Jean’s birthday today. 21 years old today.
Mar 6th 1991 (Wednesday): Got so far behind with this I can’t remember much.
Mar 7th 1991 (Thursday): We went shopping, Arvie went with me but I think next
week I can go by myself.
Mar 8th 1991 (Friday): Got .2 inch of rain & cool.
Mar 9th 1991 (Saturday): Didn’t do much today that I can recall as when I am
writing this is March 30th.
Mar 10th 1991 (Sunday): We both went to Sunday S. & church. Sure was good
to get back to church. Arvie had a stroke tonight, his legs just went out from
under him. We could hardly get him to bed.
Mar 11th 1991 (Monday): He still can’t walk but feeling is coming back in right
leg. Started to take him to Doctor but thought the feeling might come back in
other leg.
Mar 12th 1991 (Tuesday): He is no better than yesterday. So I met Doctor Pullig
at emergency room at noon. They were taking X-rays. I came home & called
over there tonight & they are taking him by ambulance to Waldey in Texarkana in
the morn.
Mar 13th 1991 (Wednesday): I got Sandy & Nikki to go with me in case I couldn’t
drive. They had not done anything when we came home, but were supposed to
run body scanner.
Mar 14th 1991 (Thursday): I called Arvie & they didn’t find anything so I didn’t go
over there today. Went to the grocery store.
Mar 15th 1991 (Friday): Melba Jean & Harold took me to Texarkana with them
today. Bro. Paul came over too. They ran a brain scan today.
Mar 16th 1991 (Saturday): Bill, Ruth & myself went to Texarkana today & they
didn’t know anything.
Mar 17th 1991 (Sunday): I didn’t go today went to church. Called & they said he
had a mass of blood vessels in his head. They will run a dye test up there
tomorrow.
Mar 18th 1991 (Monday): Bill went with me today & they ran the test but don’t
know the results yet.
Mar 19th 1991 (Tuesday): I went to Texarkana today by myself to spend the
night, He is better & can hobble to the bath room. I spent the night.
Mar 20th 1991 (Wednesday): Came home about 1pm. They say it is his neck
the arteries were not cleaned out in Dallas 6 years ago.
Mar 21st 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping today. At 3pm Arvie Called & said
come get him as he was being released for 3 weeks. So I took off & picked him
up.
Mar 22nd 1991 (Friday): Today is his birthday 72 today. He is better.
Mar 23rd 1991 (Saturday): Didn’t do much today. Cooked a little.
Mar 24th 1991 (Sunday): I went to Sunday S. & church.
Mar 25th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry so warm don’t need any fire.
Mar 26th 1991 (Tuesday): Swept my driveway & burned the limbs & straw.
Mar 27th 1991 (Wednesday): Sure want to sweep some more the pollen from
the trees has everything yellow.
Mar 28th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & filed taxes & fixed Steve’s deed for
1 acre to put a trailer on. Started raining.
Mar 29th 1991 (Friday): It really rained last night & still raining got 1.8 inch,
washed off the yellow pollen. Backed the car out & got it good & wet then wiped
it down. Looks a lot better.
Mar 30th 1991 (Saturday): Sun is shining this morn but 34 degrees. Had frost,
sure hope it didn’t kill anything.
Mar 31st 1991 (Sunday): We both went to church today, Arvie can’t walk much
has to go real slow. Steve, Sandy & Nikki were over for awhile. Ruth & Bill left
this morn for San Antonio.
Apr 1st 1991 (Monday): April fools day. Did laundry & started squares for Ruth
Dixon a quilt out of material she gave me.
Apr 2nd 1991 (Tuesday): Went to WMU today had 8 present. I hadn’t been in
over 2 months.
Apr 3rd 1991 (Wednesday): Went to Little Rock today for my checkup & he
dismissed me. Rained while we were there but only sprinkled on the way home,
almost dark when we got home & I had to drive.
Apr 4th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping today. Had to go to so many places.
Had to get a switch for the well & the bank, Sears, Walmart & groceries &
courthouse.
Apr 5th 1991 (Friday): Went back today for Arvie to get haircut & fill up with fuel.
Apr 6th 1991 (Saturday): Raked a little in front yard. Called Truman Hart to fix
the well.
Apr 7th 1991 (Sunday): Truman came & put on switch on well. I went to church
but Arvie stayed for him to come.
Apr 8th 1991 (Monday): Went to Garden Club. Took stuff to have garage sale at
Mary Lou’s.
Apr 9th 1991 (Tuesday): Swept rest of front yard.
Apr 10th 1991 (Wednesday): Howard came & did a lot of my yard sweeping.
We went to church tonight.
Apr 11th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping rained in Magnolia.
Apr 12th 1991 (Friday): Started raining tonight & rained all night.
Apr 13th 1991 (Saturday): Got 2.2 inches of rain. Today is Bill’s birthday.
Looking for Alice & Don.
Apr 14th 1991 (Sunday): Alice & Don got here early this morn. I went to Sunday
S. Rained all morn. Got another 2.3 inch or rain. Went to look at some land up
close to Willisville for Alice & Don.
Apr 15th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Alice & Don went with Fincher up to look
at land again but he is stubborn on the price. They left here late this afternoon.
Apr 16th 1991 (Tuesday): Arvie & I went to Texarkana to Dr. Baumfalk & he
thinks surgery is to great a risk for him, to just keep taking one aspirin a day &
that is best.
Apr 17th 1991 (Wednesday): Rained 1.5 inches of rain nearly all night & day.
Went shopping today. Bought me a new mower.
Apr 18th 1991 (Thursday): Mowed the lawn yesterday afternoon, like my self
powered mower. Looking for Ruth & Gerald tomorrow.
Apr 19th 1991 (Friday): Cooked & cleaned & they got here about 4:30 in the
afternoon as they had come through a lot of down pours of rain.
Apr 20th 1991 (Saturday): Enjoyed Ruth & Gerald here. Went to the get
acquainted thing at the Medihout Church at Waldo. Then to the supper at the
Rails. Had to wait so long to eat but the food was delicious. Had 85 people.
Apr 21st 1991 (Sunday): Ruth & Gerald left here about 8am & we got off to
church. They were going to Andy’s at Fort Smith.
Apr 22nd 1991 (Monday): Rained .4 inch of rain today only washed dryable
clothes. Worked on quilt.
Apr 23rd 1991 (Tuesday): Finished laundry, walked & it rained another .1 inch of
rain.
Apr 24th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to church tonight not as many there as usual.
Apr 25th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & got 5 tomato plants. Worked all
afternoon getting soil & cow manure & setting plants in pots.
Apr 26th 1991 (Friday): Cloudy this morn. We went fishing for awhile. Caught 6.
Arvie 4 & me 2. Threw them back. Leah came down for awhile tonight.
Apr 27th 1991 (Saturday): Rained all morning got 1.3 inches. I worked on quilt a
little while.
Apr 28th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Came up a storm about
4pm. We didn’t go to church tonight. Got 2.5 inches more of rain.
Apr 29th 1991 (Monday): Went to garage sale at Mary Lou’s for Garden Club.
Stayed till 2pm. 2.8 inches rain last night.
Apr 30th 1991 (Tuesday): Well its fair today. Did laundry & then went back to
garage sale & came home at 3:30pm.
May 1st 1991 (Wednesday): Fair again today & warm. Went to church tonight.
May 2nd 1991 (Thursday): We went shopping today & got Arvie 2 new pairs of
pants & gift for Nikki as her birthday is Monday.
May 3rd 1991 (Friday): Rained this morn & during the night. Got 2.8 inches of
rain. Worked on quilt applicating.
May 4th 1991 (Saturday): Set out 5 tomato plants in pots. Probably won’t do
anything.
May 5th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice today.
May 6th 1991 (Monday): Today is Nikki & Mike’s birthday. Nikki & Sandy came
over this afternoon & Nikki wanted to stay with me so she stayed until Steve
came got her about 8pm.
May 7th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to WMU today had 10 present & a pretty day.
May 8th 1991 (Wednesday): Swept yard in front today.
May 9th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & Arvie went with me.
May 10th 1991 (Friday): Swept all of south side of yard.
May 11th 1991 (Saturday): Swept of back & got all through with what I will try to
do now.
May 12th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & to church tonight but not
training union.
May 13th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry & a beautiful day to hang clothes out.
Mowed front yard.
May 14th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to Garden Club at Melba Jean’s had 8 present.
I gave the program on herbs.
May 15th 1991 (Wednesday): Velma & Samuel came up & it rained all day.
May 16th 1991 (Thursday): Rained again last night & we got 1.9 inches of rain in
all. Went shopping.
May 17th 1991 (Friday): Started cracking my black walnuts & picking them out
did half today. Mabel took the Bull.
May 18th 1991 (Saturday): Did the rest of walnuts. Got 2 bowls full. Sure am
tired.
May 19th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Rained off & on all day got 1
inch of rain.
May 20th 1991 (Monday): Today is Cindy’s birthday. Did laundry but rained all
day got .7 inch.
May 21st 1991 (Tuesday): Went to Hope today & took clothes to the Migrant
Mission only they don’t have anyone to run the mission yet. 8 of us went.
May 22nd 1991 (Wednesday): Heard Mrs. Sammons was in hospital with severe
vomiting. Went to church tonight.
May 23rd 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping got groceries & Arvie got parts &
fixed under the sink in bathroom.
May 24th 1991 (Friday): Getting ready to go to Dallas next week, but Velma &
Sam came by & had supper & we won’t go to Dallas until the first week in June
because they closed Memorial Day. Rained all day got 1.1 inches of rain.
May 25th 1991 (Saturday): Rained all night & is still raining at 11am. Got 1.2
inches rain.
May 26th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Beautiful day.
May 27th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Cloudy.
May 28th 1991 (Tuesday): Arvie bush hogged some of the front.
May 29th 1991 (Wednesday): Trying to get ready to go to Dallas next week.
Water started leaking behind sink in main bath. Bill worked & worked to get it
fixed.
May 30th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping. Had to get stuff to take with us to
Dallas.
May 31st 1991 (Friday): Did some laundry. Packed our bags. Alice & Don is
coming – moving here Sunday. Hope to see them before we leave at 1:30.
Rained 1 inch today.
June 1st 1991 (Saturday): Made Chicken Salad & made a big pot of Vegetable
Stew.
June 2nd 1991 (Sunday): Went to Sunday School. Came home & started for
Dallas at 1:30. We followed Samuel & Velma & Mr. & Mrs. Kelly. Got out there
about 5pm. Got room at Red Roof Inn for 5 days.
June 3rd 1991 (Monday): Went to Dr. Winslows office at 8:30am. They made all
kinds of tests in the morn & we took treatments at 1:30pm. They say Arvies neck
is not that bad but his legs were bad.
June 4th 1991 (Tuesday): Took treatments at 8:30am. Stayed in the Motel
Room as Arvie was kinda sick.
June 5th 1991 (Wednesday): We both took treatments again & Arvie was still
sick in afternoon.
June 6th 1991 (Thursday): Took our treatments & I was sick this afternoon &
Arvie was feeling better.
June 7th 1991 (Friday): Took our last treatments this morn & we left for home
about 12 noon. Made it ok Thank God. Sure good to get home. Alice & Don
were here as they moved here on Sunday after we left.
June 8th 1991 (Saturday): Alice & Don are trying to get the land closing as soon
as possible. They didn’t get much done last week.
June 9th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Ruth & Bill was up too.
Alice moved their trailer on lot.
June 10th 1991 (Monday): Did our laundry from going to Dallas. Cooked & we
played Rumbicube.
June 11th 1991 (Tuesday): Alice & Don are supposed to get their land closing
Wednesday. Mary & Ham got here about 5:30pm.
June 12th 1991 (Wednesday): Cooked a big dinner & Alice & Don finally got
their land all settled sure was a hassle. Mary & Ham, Dad & myself went up to
see Alice’s & Don’s land & they sure liked it. Went to different Cemetery’s at
Corinth & Waldrep.
June 13th 1991 (Thursday): Fixed dinner & Mary & Ham left about 2:30pm.
June 14th 1991 (Friday): We went to town shopping & buying car license. Alice
& Don has a lot at the Genestic trailer park.
June 15th 1991 (Saturday): Did laundry & begin packing to go back to Dallas
Monday. Alice & Don is sure working up there on their land. Got their well all
drilled. Got 1.7 inches of rain.
June 16th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church was raining this morn when we went.
Got .3 inch of rain.
June 17th 1991 (Monday): Got up at 4am & left here at 6am. Kinda foggy this
morn. Made everything just fine Thank the Lord. Got to motel at 11:15 ate us a
lunch & went to Doctor’s office.
June 18th 1991 (Tuesday): Got our treatment this morn I walked this afternoon.
Went to Krogers & got ice.
June 19th 1991 (Wednesday): Got our treatment & our car has a real bad leak
when it is running – leaking fuel. Called a place just a few blocks from motel &
called Edna & she met us at the garage. She took us out to the big mall, then
she took us back & we got the car cost us $136.00 but it is fixed.
June 20th 1991 (Thursday): Got our treatment & loafed this afternoon I walked.
June 21st 1991 (Friday): Got our treatments & started home at 11:30. Got out
on I30 at 12:00 noon. Got home about 6:00. We had stopped & ate.
June 22nd 1991 (Saturday): So good to be home. Thank God, for he saw us
home all the way.
June 23rd 1991 (Sunday): Today is Gerald’s birthday & we called them & they
were fine. Went to church.
June 24th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry & mostly just relaxed to be home. Got .6
inch of rain today.
June 25th 1991 (Tuesday): Didn’t do much & got so far behind I can’t remember
what we did.
June 26th 1991 (Wednesday): Mowed the yard some & sure is hot 95 degrees.
June 27th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping.
June 28th 1991 (Friday): Hoed out my tomatoes in the garden sure was grassy.
June 29th 1991 (Saturday): Sure hot. Walked everyday.
June 30th 1991 (Sunday): Went to Church twice.
July 1st 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Tony & Beccy & kids got moved down
here.
July 2nd 1991 (Tuesday): Went to WMU. I have missed so much. Had 5
present.
July 3rd 1991 (Wednesday): Rained last night. Got .7 inch of rain sure was
thankful for the rain & stayed cloudy & cooler.
July 4th 1991 (Thursday): Didn’t do anything just Arvie & myself here. Baked a
chicken.
July 5th 1991 (Friday): Picked up in yard ready to mow in back. Took down the
thing on the vent at the end of house. Alice & Don popped in for the rest of
weekend. They are at their trailor.
July 6th 1991 (Saturday): Didn’t do much today. Washed the car.
July 7th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church & Alice & Don was here. Fixed a good
dinner.
July 8th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry & Alice & Don are still here & doing work up
at their place.
July 9th 1991 (Tuesday): Alice & Don got off today & Bill did too.
July 10th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to church tonight.
July 11th 1991 (Thursday): Went to buy groceries & other shopping. Sure
getting dry around here. Bought flowers.
July 12th 1991 (Friday): Made pie to go to Cemetery & made up flower
arrangements.
July 13th 1991 (Saturday): Went to cemetery had a bigger crowd than usual.
Lost one of my chairs. Went to Lanebury to pick up Don’s truck & I took Nikki
with us.
July 14th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice.
July 15th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Leah brought David down to spend a
couple of days.
July 16th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to WMU had 7 present. David & I played
Skipbo.
July 17th 1991 (Wednesday): David & I played skipbo again.
July 18th 1991 (Thursday): Blondie our cow had her bull calf last night on the

July 19th 1991 (Friday): Did some laundry to get ready to go.
July 20th 1991 (Saturday): Watered all my plants good before leaving. Becky
(Tony’s wife is supposed to feed the cats. Arvie shot Bear as he was in such bad
shape he quit eating.
July 21st 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Got all my packing done.
July 22nd 1991 (Monday): Got up at 3am left here at 5am had good driving
weather cloudy. Got to Dallas & motel around 10am checked in & we got first
treatment at 1:30pm.
July 23rd 1991 (Tuesday): Went & got our treatment at 8:30am & I went to
Krogers & got ice & a few groceries.
July 24th 1991 (Wednesday): Went & got our treatment at 8:30. Watched TV all
afternoon & Arvie slept. He was kinda sick. I walked this afternoon.
July 25th 1991 (Thursday): Went & got our treatment went back to Krogers &
got ice & a few things. Trying to rain & a lot cooler. I walked this afternoon.
July 26th 1991 (Friday): Went to get treatment but checked out of motel first.
Went to Dennys & ate dinner & it is raining some. Left about 1pm. Stopped at
76 truck stop out this side of Dallas & filled with diesel. Got home 6pm. Thank
the Lord.
July 27th 1991 (Saturday): So good to be home. Got everything unpacked & did
laundry. Went up to Alice’s place & they are putting in septic tank & getting
ready to pour cement.
July 28th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Harold Hambrice is going in
hospital again as he has cancer.
July 29th 1991 (Monday): Sewed on my quilt & am piecing got it almost all put
together.
July 30th 1991 (Tuesday): Today I am 73 years young & Leah is 35 today. They
went to Canada & Betty called & said they were back to their house tonight at
10pm. Got so many cards & calls. Tony came back by himself & a friend to get
his belongings as Becky won’t come back down here.
July 31st 1991 (Wednesday): Mowed yard yesterday afternoon & I am buying
Tony’s refrigerator he paid 20 dollars for.
Aug 1st 1991 (Thursday): Tony & his fried are leaving today. We went
shopping. Tony sold all he couldn’t take with him.
Aug 2nd 1991 (Friday): Rained .3 inch of rain. Sure is getting dry. Pond is way
down.
Aug 3rd 1991 (Saturday): Went up to Alice’s place & picked 1 ½ bushel of pears.
They poured cement for their garage today. Looking good up there.
Aug 4th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church but Arvie didn’t go.
Aug 5th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry & peeled & cut off pears, made preserves.
Made 22 jars & am exhausted. I did to much.
Aug 6th 1991 (Tuesday): Didn’t rest at all last night, just over did myself. Hard
for me to learn to take it easy. Went to WMU at Iris Lindsays today.
Aug 7th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to Gordon Rogers yesterday & got 2 bushels
of peas. So we shelled peas all day, had 20 quarts. Real good peas.
Aug 8th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping didn’t get off until late, as electric was
off 2 hours this morn.
Aug 9th 1991 (Friday): Cooked rest of peas today had 7 more jars. Rained .3
inch of rain.
Aug 10th 1991 (Saturday): Didn’t do much I meant to go to the wedding of
Carmen Wistrand but forgot it.
Aug 11th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. They had the closing of Bible
School tonight.
Aug 12th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Beautiful day & cool 85 degrees high.
Aug 13th 1991 (Tuesday): Cloudy & cool 67 degrees this morn & cool all day
high of 77 degrees. Starting drizzling late this afternoon had to have umbrella to
do my walking. .3 inch of rain.
Aug 14th 1991 (Wednesday): Still cool 66 degrees this morn. Went to church
tonight.
Aug 15th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping still cool today.
Aug 16th 1991 (Friday): Leah & Ray & children went to Canada & had vacation
& a good time came back by Betty & Travis’s.
Aug 17th 1991 (Saturday): Nadine Brown brought us Muscalines & I made jelly
today sure is good had 14 pints.
Aug 18th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice, had a real good Sunday School
class. Ruth Marlar is real sick.
Aug 19th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry, beautiful day. Cool enough to be
pleasant. Went up to Alice’s place & looks real good up there.
Aug 20th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to lake to have our WMU had 5 go. Was nice
but went in Mrs. Brown’s car & it wouldn’t start when we got ready to leave.
Aug 21st 1991 (Wednesday): Went to church tonight. Bro Kevin brought the
lesson as Bro Paul & family are on vacation.
Aug 22nd 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping. Arvie went & got a haircut & we
filled with fuel.
Aug 23rd 1991 (Friday): Went to Carl Dickens funeral at church. Sure a big
family.
Aug 24th 1991 (Saturday): Put in my quilt. Will have to quilt real slow on it.
Aug 25th 1991 (Sunday): Bro Kevin preached & did real good. Went to church
twice. Sure is dry.
Aug 26th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry, real warm, but only 90 degrees, but is so
dry.
Aug 27th 1991 (Tuesday): Took Melba Jean & Harold some steak & Angel food
Cake. We had our Committee meeting at church.
Aug 28th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to church tonight & Bro Paul was back & he
said Ruth Marlar was real low.
Aug 29th 1991 (Thursday): Got word today Ruth died this morn. Thank God she
don’t have to suffer any more.
Aug 30th 1991 (Friday): I fixed Potato Salad for Mary Hines to take for the family
this afternoon. Got .5 inch of rain. Thank the Lord.
Aug 31st 1991 (Saturday): Raining again this morn. Got .4 inch of rain.
Sept 1st 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Rained again this afternoon.
Got .4 inch again & this is the first so look out September. Alice called & they will
be here next Friday.

but had to dry everything in dryer. Tammy called she thought Alice & Don were
here.
Sept 3rd 1991 (Tuesday): Rained again today .4 inch again. Went to WMU had
6 present. I got elected president which I didn’t want to do. Was sick all night.
Sept 4th 1991 (Wednesday): All done in today from not sleeping last night. Got
.9 inch of rain this afternoon.
Sept 5th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & feel good today got a good night s
sleep. Didn’t rain today. Mowed a little in the yard.
Sept 6th 1991 (Friday): Today is our 55th Wedding Anniversary. Looking for
Alice & Don sometime today. They didn’t come tho.
Sept 7th 1991 (Saturday): Alice & Don is still not here. Went up to their place
but still not there but there is still pears there.
Sept 8th 1991 (Sunday): Alice & Don came in the night & are moving their trailer
up on their place today. Went to church this morn & fixed dinner for them.

present. A good program. Cooked rest of pears.

started blowing in cooler while we were there. Sure feels good.

Went shopping.

Gregory is 4 and Lamar is 51.
Sept 21st 1991 (Saturday): Went with Samuel & Velma to Longview to the
reunion. Was Dorothy & Gene’s 50th Wedding Anniversary & had it out at the
park. A beautiful day.
Sept 22nd 1991 (Sunday): Went to church today. Alice came down here on her
bike & we didn’t get to go to church tonight. They are getting back on the road
tomorrow.
Sept 23rd 1991 (Monday): Today is Betty’s birthday 54 years old today. Did
laundry. Looks like rain but didn’t.
Sept 24th 1991 (Tuesday): Rained a little today got .3 inch of rain.
Sept 25th 1991 (Wednesday): Put in a baby quilt & quilted a little. Went to
church tonight.
Sept 26th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & Arvie went to eye doctor & he will
do some more surgery next Wednesday at Camden.
Sept 27th 1991 (Friday): Swept yards out in front of garage nearly made me sick.
Bill is home for a couple of days. Steve got his well dug back here.
Sept 28th 1991 (Saturday): Arvie mowed all the front between us & Bill. Sure
looks nice.
Sept 29th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Sure a beautiful day & 17 in
Sunday School. Nadine Brown’s mother died.
Sept 30th 1991 (Monday): Done laundry & swept all south of the house, looking
a lot better. Mrs. Mary Comer died.
Oct 1st 1991 (Tuesday): Went to WMU had 5 present. My first session as
President. Rained .3 inch while I was coming home.
Oct 2nd 1991 (Wednesday): Went to Camden for the eye doctor to zap Arvie’s
eye with the Lazar. He says he can see lot better. Went to church tonight. I
didn’t rest good tonight at all.
Oct 3rd 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping & Arvie back to the eye doctor, said his
eye is ok & its lot better.
Oct 4th 1991 (Friday): Getting things together to go to Dallas again next week.
Oct 5th 1991 (Saturday): Did laundry of thing to take.
Oct 6th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn but didn’t go tonight for we
want to get up early in the morn. Got everything packed.
Oct 7th 1991 (Monday): Left here at 6:30 this morn & got to the motel at 11:30.
Ate us a bite & then to the Doctors office for our treatment. Went to Krogers &
got ice & food.
Oct 8th 1991 (Tuesday): Everything is ok the Lord watched over us all the way
out. Got another treatment this morn. Ate at Dennys for dinner.
Oct 9th 1991 (Wednesday): Went back to Doctors for treatment. Every time &
step on brake of car the low coolant light comes on.
Oct 10th 1991 (Thursday): Went back for treatment. Then we hunted a place to
change oil & get them to take out some of the water as it is to full. Went to
Pennesoil place. They changed oil & took out quite a bit of water. It didn’t flash
anymore.
Oct 11th 1991 (Friday): Checked out of motel & went to take our treatment &
headed home. Stopped at 76 station & filled up with fuel & ate dinner. Came on
home just floating on air. God really let that old car run good.
Oct 12th 1991 (Saturday): Did laundry. Burned trash & stayed until it all burned
up. Came back in house & set down & took a nap as Arvie was already napping.
Woke up & went to hang out clothes & the whole south half of the yard & woods
was on fire. Our wood piles were burning up. Called 911 & all the neighbors &
finally got it out.
Oct 13th 1991 (Sunday): Got up & looked outside & it was ok. Got breakfast
ready & Bill came up in his truck in a hurry the woods were on fire again. They
got it out before long. I went to church but Arvie stayed around here on account
of the fire. Our revival started today.
Oct 14th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry. Went to church tonight.
Oct 15th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to church. Bro Randy (something) preached
enjoyed it.
Oct 16th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to church again. Not much interest taken but
I feel better off renewing my faith.
Oct 17th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping. Went to church & we got 2 new
members to be baptized.
Oct 18th 1991 (Friday): Went to church tonight.
Oct 19th 1991 (Saturday): Rested today. We cut a little wood.

night.

under the sink & didn’t get to go. Bill come in & helped get it fixed.

Oct 25th 1991 (Friday): Went with & helped him cutting wood. Got 4 big trees
down & a lot cut. Bill helped cut wood.
Oct 26th 1991 (Saturday): Cut wood & Steve helped till dinner & they hauled a
lot to the house.

Oct 28th 1991 (Monday): Misted rain nearly all day. Had to dry clothes in dryer.

quilt all done.

really split wood.

windy. Feels colder than it is. Had a fire this morn first fire this fall.

morn. Lot of people absent from Sunday School.

family was in hospital. Went shopping & delivered another basket to Laura Mae
Fincher this afternoon & road was real good up there.
Nov 22nd 1991 (Friday): Rested today & have got to where I can rest good at
night since I quit raking yards.
Nov 23rd 1991 (Saturday): Got word today that Ivie Bailey died. Funeral will be
next Tuesday.
Nov 24th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Warming up a real nice day.
Nov 25th 1991 (Monday): Did laundry, moped & dusted my house, getting ready
for Thanksgiving.
Nov 26th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to Ive’s funeral at 2:30 this afternoon & out to
the cemetery. Opal & Buck was there.
Nov 27th 1991 (Wednesday): Bill got home today. Cleaned bathrooms. Got
turkey in refrigerator. I guess Alice & Don will be home tonight as they have not
called.
Nov 28th 1991 (Thursday): Alice called last night & they were all here by 9:30
this morn. Got all cooking & we had a good meal about 2:30. Steve is sick &
going to the Doctor tonight. Doctor said he got deer blood fever.
Nov 29th 1991 (Friday): Home & no one here to help eat leftovers yet. Looks
like rain. Alice came down for mid afternoon meal, but Don was watching a ball
game & didn’t come. Bill & Ruth was here & Steve. We all played cards until
10:30.
Nov 30th 1991 (Saturday): Started raining about noon & rained all night. No
company today.
Dec 1st 1991 (Sunday): Still raining but not hard. Got 3 inches of rain today &
night.
Dec 2nd 1991 (Monday): Still raining had to dry all clothes in dryer. Got .9 inches
more rain.
Dec 3rd 1991 (Tuesday): Fair this morn. Went to WMU Foreign Mission Study
this morn. Had 7 present. & had potluck. 38 degrees this morn.
Dec 4th 1991 (Wednesday): 33 degrees this morn & sun shining. Alice & Don
went back on road last night they came by here for a few minutes. Tina Walker
got shot by a policeman last Thursday because she was going to shoot Mr.
Walker. She is in serious condition in hospital in Texarkana.
Dec 5th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping got almost all my shopping done.
Dec 6th 1991 (Friday): Quilted some more on my quilt just like the ends.
Dec 7th 1991 (Saturday): They finally got the Big Bull loaded & 3 more cows.
Got $900 for the bull. Got 2 cows now & 4 calves.
Dec 8th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. But didn’t go tonight as Arvie
is not feeling good.
Dec 9th 1991 (Monday): Took Arvie over to Magnolia Hospital to Doctor Bowman
who is from El Dorado, he is a urologist. Have to go back next Monday for x-rays
& lab work.
Dec 10th 1991 (Tuesday): Wrapped all the gifts that I have bought so far. Arvie
went to town for feed & fuel for the truck.
Dec 11th 1991 (Wednesday): Rained today got 1.8 inches. Went to church
tonight & the car almost didn’t start it is the starter.
Dec 12th 1991 (Thursday): Called the starter place & they said bring it in. So we
took it over but they never called all day to come get it.
Dec 13th 1991 (Friday): I called & they said the car was ready, so we went in
Bill’s truck & I took the car & did my shopping.
Dec 14th 1991 (Saturday): Finished my quilt all ready to hem pinned in the hem.
Hemmed 1 end & 1 side.
Dec 15th 1991 (Sunday): I went to church. I couldn’t go tonight as Arvie had to
take all this stuff for going to the Doctor tomorrow.
Dec 16th 1991 (Monday): Went to Magnolia hospital at 8am. They did x-rays &
Lab work. Doctor gave him some medicine for right now, his prostate is swollen.
Dec 17th 1991 (Tuesday): Went to WMU. Had 5 present.
Dec 18th 1991 (Wednesday): Went to Bible study. Really warm no fire today.
Dec 19th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping. Kinda raining got .6 inch of rain.
Dec 20th 1991 (Friday): Bill got home & I run dust mop & vacuum & dusted.
Dec 21st 1991 (Saturday): They got new battery on tractor & got it running.
Fixed the old truck & got it running.

church twice. They had Christmas program tonight. Got my tree up.

degrees today.
Dec 24th 1991 (Tuesday): Christmas Eve day & I fix supper for all tonight. I am
about sick with back ache. Had a real nice dinner & opened all our gifts.
Dec 25th 1991 (Wednesday): Resting today. They all came & ate again in paper
plates so not no trouble.
Dec 26th 1991 (Thursday): Went shopping. Arvie went with me. Didn’t have to
buy much. Raining.

Dec 28th 1991 (Saturday): Alice & Don got in early this morn. Got .3 inch more

Dec 29th 1991 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & meant to go tonight but
Alice, Don & Ruth & Bill came in with pecan wood as they had sawed wood all
day. Today is Alice’s birthday 48 years old.

up the pecan wood but had to saw it. It would not bust.
Dec 31st 1991 (Tuesday): New years eve. I fix supper for all as Alice & Don was
in. Played cards & exchanged gifts with them.
