Jan 27th 2001 (Saturday): My arm is healed but still have to take physical
therapy. Can’t hardly write. Mary went home the 23rd of January.
Jan 28th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church today first time since I broke my arm.
Did pretty good. Margaret Downing taught the class as both classes are
together.
Jan 29th 2001 (Monday): Went to Magnolia & took therapy on my arm. Rained
very hard but I drove myself.
Jan 30th 2001 (Tuesday): Exercising my arm; took the pill for my bones starting
today. I take 1 a week for 4 weeks. My hip has started catching me. I walked to
the mailbox but took my cane.
Jan 31st 2001 (Wednesday): Last day of January 2001. Went to Magnolia again
& took therapy Ruth went with me & we ate at Chinese place – Real good.
Feb 1st 2001 (Thursday): Rested today & exercised. Walked in the house.
Boring around here. I can’t do much & I want to get outside & clean yards.
Feb 2nd 2001 (Friday): Ground Hog day & he saw his shadow for it is fair & sun
shining, 6 more weeks of winter. Went to get my therapy & bought groceries &
went to Wal-Mart got medicine.
Feb 3rd 2001 (Saturday): I have exercised twice today & walked in the house.
Got in some wood that I can lift.
Feb 4th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Small crowd. The preacher
(Bro. Mike) is sick with flu & his whole family. Melba Jean’s grandson & wife
brought a song program & explained his missionary program.
Feb 5th 2001 (Monday): Went to get my therapy this morn. Warm outside.
Feb 6th 2001 (Tuesday): Took my pill for my bones. Real warm today, don’t
need a fire.
Feb 7th 2001 (Wednesday): Went back to Magnolia & took therapy. Warm 78
degrees outside. Went to get mail & I began to think I could not get back to the
house. My heart is beating so hard.
Feb 8th 2001 (Thursday): Don’t feel good at all. Am so weak. Still real warm.
Didn’t sleep after 3:00am. My heart beat so hard & fast. That medicine has run
my blood pressure sky high.
Feb 9th 2001 (Friday): Went back for therapy at 2:00pm for it is supposed to rain
but did not rain much. I only go twice a week next two weeks.
Feb 10th 2001 (Saturday): Fair. Sun is shining pretty but cold & windy. Bill is
burning the brush heap in back.
Feb 11th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn in the rain & it is still raining
at 2:00pm. 36 degrees. Had more at church than usual for it being raining.
Feb 12th 2001 (Monday): Raining this morn & I have to go get my therapy. Not
very cold in the 40’s. Rained all the way over there & all the way back.
Feb 13th 2001 (Tuesday): Rained a little today but mostly foggy. Sure glad I
don’t have to drive out in this. Supposed to take another one of those pills but I
didn’t as I am afraid to.
Feb 14th 2001 (Wednesday): 64 degrees this morn, didn’t build a fire. I got up at
4:00am. Valentine day. Alice & Don came home Monday night. She came
down here this morn. We played Rummy cube till 10:00 & she went home.
Feb 15th 2001 (Thursday): Went to Magnolia for my therapy treatment. Went
first to Wal-Mart & got my medicine. Then to get the therapy. Bought groceries
& it was really raining when I came out of the grocery store & rained hard all the
way home. At times it rained so hard you could not see much. Almost quit by
the time I arrived home. So thankful I made it. Then rained the rest of the day.
Feb 16th 2001 (Friday): Rained & thundered until noon. Then the sun almost
came out, 54 degrees. I went to the mailbox. Feel a lot better.
Feb 17th 2001 (Saturday): Got up at 4:30 this morn, just could not sleep any
longer. 34 degrees this morn.
Feb 18th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church, but can’t hardly wear my clothes. Can
drive pretty good.
Feb 19th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry, can’t hardly mend the fire without lifting.
Went & took therapy, rained.
Feb 20th 2001 (Tuesday): Can’t do much. Work on puzzles till I look like a
puzzle. Thank God I can do as good as I do.
Feb 21st 2001 (Wednesday): Alice came down & put up a lot of wood on the
porch & moped all the floors. Sure was nice of her.
Feb 22nd 2001 (Thursday): Went & took therapy again but will take it one more
week.
Feb 23rd 2001 (Friday): Rained & rained sure is miserable outside. Just thank
God I don’t have to get out in it.
Feb 24th 2001 (Saturday): Worked on puzzles in book form. Sun came out for
awhile looked so good.
Feb 25th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church & we got back in our classroom today.
I didn’t really aim to teach today.
Feb 26th 2001 (Monday): Went back to therapy, last week. Rained but I went
anyway. Warm today.
Feb 27th 2001 (Tuesday): Sore from therapy. Nice to be home. Mary called &
they were doing ok.
Feb 28th 2001 (Wednesday): Last day of February & raining. Glad I don’t have
to go anywhere.
Mar 1st 2001 (Thursday): Last day of therapy & raining so hard don’t think I can
go over there today. Don’t look so bad now so I will try to go & get through with
it.
Mar 2nd 2001 (Friday): Glad I came on for therapy yesterday & got it over with.
Sure am sore today.
Mar 3rd 2001 (Saturday): I am still so sore my arm aches. Still raining & flooding
in all the low places.
Mar 4th 2001 (Sunday): Sun is shining & sure looks good. Thank God for the
sun. Supposed to turn cooler tonight.
Mar 5th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry & kept a fire in the 30’s this morn but sun is
still shining.
Mar 6th 2001 (Tuesday): No therapy thank God. Got out my big (good times
American) puzzle. A puzzle of Fair grounds. Tried to work to hard on it.
Mar 7th 2001 (Wednesday): I feel lots better today. My arm feels good. Sure a
pretty sunshiny day. I am fixing to go to the mailbox & take out my garbage.
Mar 8th 2001 (Thursday): I was fixing to go to town when Alice came down &
she called Ruth & we all went to town. Ruth paid for dinner at Chinese
restaurant. Had a real good day. Picked up my wheelbarrow wheel & Alice put it
back on the wheelbarrow.
Mar 9th 2001 (Friday): Rained a little last night. I bought a new rain gauge so I
don’t know how much it rained yet.
Mar 10th 2001 (Saturday): Cold this morn 32 degrees. Had a fire all day. I plan
on going over to Travis’s this afternoon for a few minutes. Haven’t went
anywhere since I broke my arm except to Dr. & to town & church 3 times now.
Mar 11th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn, 50 degrees outside & 60
when I came home. Didn’t build a fire. Did my exercises.
Mar 12th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry. Warm today, had fire early but didn’t
mend it. I am glad it is getting close to spring. Stormed last night.
Mar 13th 2001 (Tuesday): 43 degrees this morn & had a fire again early but not
during the day. Did all my exercises.
Mar 14th 2001 (Wednesday): Cloudy outside but not raining yet. Have not heard
from Alice anymore. 70 degrees outside, but cool in the house. Got to go to the
mailbox & get in some wood. Have my wheelbarrow fixed now. Sure rained
from noon till dark.
Mar 15th 2001 Thursday): Rain is all out of here & should be fair this afternoon,
but windy, & cooler. Got to get in wood today. Haven’t got much more wood.
Down in 40’s tonight.
Mar 16th 2001 (Friday): Cool this morn but will warm up, fair so the sun will be
out. Alice came down & we played Rummy Cube.
Mar 17th 2001 (Saturday): Nice this morn, a little cool but no rain. Picked up a
little in the yard, not much. Just can’t do much.
Mar 18th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Picked up a loaf of bread at
Terrys when I went down there.
Mar 19th 2001 (Monday): Jimmy finally came & picked that single bed & I have
so much more room. Haven’t heard from Travis how they liked it. Did laundry
today & forgot to wash my house shoes.
Mar 20th 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town & bought groceries. Alice came down
early & we played Rummy Cube for a while & I went to town when she left. Had
to buy gasoline.
Mar 21st 2001 (Wednesday): Put out garbage for in the morning. 65 degrees
today, don’t need much fire. I let it go out about 1:00pm.
Mar 22nd 2001 (Thursday): Today would have been Arvie’s birthday, he would
have been 82 today. A beautiful sunshiny & warm day, in the 70’s.
Mar 23rd 2001 (Friday): Picked up a little in the yard, but can’t do much. Sure a
lot needs to be done.
Mar 24th 2001 (Saturday): Trying to rain today, but a very little has fallen yet. 60
degrees outside. I haven’t went to the mailbox because of the rain. Hope it is
not raining tomorrow.
Mar 25th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Wore shoes that really
made my foot sore. Nice day today. Sun is shining.
Mar 26th 2001 (Monday): Tried to do laundry, did the washing but my drier is
played out, won’t heat at all. Finally got my clothes dry by hanging them all over
the house. Lamar & Pat came yesterday & are here today. Or at least Lamar is.
She must be somewhere.
Mar 27th 2001 (Tuesday): Raining today off & on Lamar & Pat are still here
during the day & stay in a motel in Magnolia at night. They have their dog with
them but he didn’t come in the house.
Mar 28th 2001 (Wednesday): Lamar & Pat left today. Still raining off & on. Cool,
need a fire all day. I am out of wood all except the round wood.
Mar 29th 2001 (Thursday): I meant to go to town today but it is still raining & real
foggy. Hope I can go tomorrow.
Mar 30th 2001 (Friday) Went to town today, bought groceries & then went to Ivan
Smith & bought a drier. They will deliver it Monday.
Mar 31st 2001 (Saturday): Sun is shining this morn but 42 degrees. Leah sent a
couple of men over with a pickup of wood. Sure glad to have that. Got a good
fire going.
Apr 1st 2001 (Sunday): Daylight saving time starts today & it is April Fools day.
Went to church a lot of people forgot to run their clocks ahead for daylight saving
time.
Apr 2nd 2001 (Monday): Will get my new dryer delivered today, I hope. Sun is
shining so nice, 61 degrees this morn, should be in the 70’s this afternoon.
Apr 3rd 2001 (Tuesday): Yes I got the new drier & it works ok. Sun shined all
day today. 75 degrees.
Apr 4th 2001 (Wednesday): 75 degrees this morn, sure warm for this early in
April. I have raked a little in the yard, hope to do more today. I intend to go to
church tonight if it is not raining.
Apr 5th 2001 (Thursday): I went to church last night, had a real good Bible
study. Really warm today in the 80’s.
Apr 6th 2001 (Friday): Worked in the yard and got so tired but don’t seem to
have hurt me, sure looks better where I worked. Don’t seem to have hurt my
arm.
Apr 7th 2001 (Saturday): Alice came down early this morn & we played Rummy
Cube for about 4 hours, had a good time. They don’t leave until sometime next
week.
Apr 8th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church twice today, such a few at church, Linda
Brown is back & so good to see her. Got the quilt the church ladies quilted of
mine & I brought it home so Alice can get it.
Apr 9th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry today & really like my new dryer. Hot today,
like summer not spring. Has not rained in a week.
Apr 10th 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town early this morn, bought groceries & Bill a
birthday present of shirt & a wrench. Still warm just like summer. Got my bed
spreads today I ordered. They are real pretty, light weight ones.
Apr 11th 2001 (Wednesday): Well I raked more in the yard, got nearly all the
south end done. Really am tired. Got to go to the mail box & I may go over to
Travis’s this afternoon if they are home. I found my keys in the car.
Apr 12th 2001 (Thursday): I raked some more on the south end of the house &
burned leaves & straw. Sure looks a lot better.
Apr 13th 2001 (Friday): Today is Bill’s birthday & also Timothy (Tammy’s son). I
changed to oil in the lawn mower & washed the filter. I figured I would have to
buy a new battery or at least charge it up but it started real good. So I am ready
to mow when I go & get some gas.
Apr 14th 2001 (Saturday): Thundering & lightning outside this morn. Rained
nearly all day.
Apr 15th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Rained early but had quit
almost by church time. Then I went tonight also. Alice came down after church
& we played Rummy Cube until 9:00pm.
Apr 16th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry and cooked cabbage for dinner. Sun is
shining today. Sure nice outside. My lawn mower wouldn’t work, the belt is
either broke or slipped off.
Apr 17th 2001 (Tuesday): Sun is shining pretty today, a little on the cool side, 55
degrees at 11 o’clock. Supposed to be in the lower 40’s or 30’s in the morning. I
will have to have a fire in the morn.
Apr 18th 2001 (Wednesday): Yes it is cool, 47 degrees this morn. Got a good
fire going. Nothing wrong with my lawn mower, just me. I forgot to put it in gear.
Works fine. Will mow this afternoon. Sun is shining real pretty. Will try to go to
church tonight. Got it all mowed.
Apr 19th 2001 (Thursday): Well it is cloudy & cool, 50 degrees this morn.
Moped my floors & I like this new mop I’ve got so light & does a good job. I got
all my floors moped by 9:30 this morn. My front yard looks pretty good. Didn’t
rain today.
Apr 20th 2001 (Friday): Went to town this morn. Ruth had to go to Dr. to be
checked out on her Diabetes. So I went on Fri. for her to have a way over there.
Shopped at Wal-Mart then went & bought groceries, & bought gasoline. Cleaned
out fireplace.
Apr 21st 2001 (Saturday): Dusted back porch some & cleaned bathrooms. 65
degrees this morn. Looking for Ruth & Kay.
Apr 22nd 2001 (Sunday): Made pea salad today. Went to church, didn’t go
tonight as they were only going to have singing. Cleaned front porch.
Apr 23rd 2001 (Monday): Cleaned both bathrooms this morn. Now I have to
cook for tomorrow.
Apr 24th 2001 (Tuesday): Well I looked for Ruth & Kay all day & then never
came. Cooked a good dinner, I don’t know what has happed to them.
Apr 25th 2001 (Wednesday): I don’t know if they will be here today or not. I
called Cary (Kay’s husband) & he said they would be here Saturday.
Apr 26th 2001 (Thursday): Well I have relaxed today not worrying about Ruth &
Kay. They will be here when they get here. Swept in the yard a little more.
Apr 27th 2001 (Friday): 52 degrees this morn. getting a little warmer every day.
As May is just around the corner. I don’t know whether to look for Kay & Ruth
tomorrow or not. Sun shiny day again today & it is getting dryer.
Apr 28th 2001 (Saturday): Well Kay & Ruth are supposed to be here today. We
are going out to eat when they get here as they don’t want me to cook. Well they
got here at 2 o’clock so we didn’t go out to eat. I fixed super & then we played
Rummy Cube till bedtime. Had a good time.
Apr 29th 2001 (Sunday): I got up at 5:30. Ate my breakfast, & then fixed their
breakfast. They got baths & I did to. They left here about 8:30. Then I got
cleaned up & got dressed for church. Didn’t have Sunday school today. Had a
visiting preacher, preaching & presenting a workbook on tithing.
Apr 30th 2001 (Monday): Sure got a lot of laundry today. Getting warmer, will
have to turn on the air conditioner soon I know. Got a lot of mowing to do this
afternoon. Just been a week since I mowed but it needs it again today. Warm
this morn in the upper 60’s. Went to see Travis & David yesterday & took David
a chocolate pie. Then I visited a little while with Mrs. Pike as she has a cracked
rib. Then I went to church from there & home.
May 1st 2001 (Tuesday): Will go to town today as Ruth has to go to the doctor.
We got home at 11:00. Warm today, had to have air conditioner on but it is
cloudy. Got my groceries & flowers to take to the cemetery Saturday.
May 2nd 2001 (Wednesday): Cloudy this morn but no rain. Will try to rake a few
more burrs up, never seen so many. Will go to church tonight or aiming to. I
went to church.
May 3rd 2001 (Thursday): Was going to mow my sagebrush knoll out here after I
got it cleaned up but by mower battery is dead. Sure did want to get that done. I
picked up all the burrs & limbs & burned them.
May 4th 2001 (Friday): Made pea salad for tomorrow – graveyard decoration
May 5th. Going to make banana pudding & enchilada casserole. Baked beans
& my pea salad.
May 5th 2001 (Saturday): Decoration Day for Waldo’s graveyard today.
Supposed to rain a little. Sprinkled some last night enough to settle the dust as
we went to the cemetery. Ruth & Bill went with me. Had a good crowd up there
& plenty food.
May 6th 2001 (Sunday): I am going to church today as this is the first Sunday in
May. Rained a little more last night. Thank the Lord, we need it. It rained a lot
more than I thought, Thank God for the rain.
May 7th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry & mowed out by the Septic Tank. Sure
rained last night, 6 inches.
May 8th 2001 (Tuesday): Alice was down & we played Rummy cube of course.
Cool today, pulled weeds in the yard.
May 9th 2001 (Wednesday): Took Ruth about her diabetes at 1 o’clock today.
She is doing better with it but has to take very expensive pills. Went to church
tonight.
May 10th 2001 (Thursday): Mary called this morn & they will be here tomorrow
night. Mowed all the yard today. Looks real good. They are all taking me to
Chinese place for dinner Sunday (Mothers Day) will be nice for everyone to be
here.
May 11th 2001 (Friday): Mary & Ham got here about 5:00pm today. Had a good
trip. Bill came for awhile.
May 12th 2001 (Saturday): Went over to Travis’s this afternoon. Stayed our
welcome out by Jenna. Ham & Travis had a drinking contest.
May 13th 2001 (Sunday): I went to church & Mary & Ham and Alice picked me
up at church & we went to eat. Ruth & Bill was already there. Had a nice meal
at Chinese place. Came home & Mary & Alice & I played Rummy Cube for
several hours.
May 14th 2001 (Monday): Mary & Ham is getting ready to leave after breakfast.
Wanted to wait until all school buses were out of the way. It is 3:00 now so they
should be about home by now. They are supposed to call me when they get
home.
May 15th 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town, bought groceries. About all I did.
May 16th 2001 (Wednesday): Raked straw & burned this pile here in the
backyard again. Talked to Wilbur Eades about Mr. Arlis Tompkins & she hasn’t
heard yet. He had a heart attack in Little Rock.
May 17th 2001 (Thursday): I got out & swept and raked out next to the pasture
fence next to the burn pile, sure looks better. Went walking early this morn.
Makes me feel lot better. Aim to keep it up.
May 18th 2001 (Friday): Went walking at 7 am but that is to late. Aim to go at
6:30 from now on. I felt so much better when I get out & walk. I ordered me a
new wig last week, should get it today or Monday.
May 19th 2001 (Saturday): I should have mowed today but I didn’t, will sure have
to Monday. Alice came by to leave her Cole slaw & veggies she had bought as
they’re leaving back on the truck.
May 20th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church & Sunday school. This may be the last
Sunday Bro. Mike will be here. He goes on vacation the next two weeks. Don’t
know who we will get for a preacher, sure hate to see them leave. He has taken
the church at stamps.
May 21st 2001 (Monday): Did laundry this morn. Rained last night & still looks
like rain. Can’t mow today. Cooler today 72 degrees today. Turned on air
conditioner last night but don’t need it today.
May 22nd 2001 (Tuesday): Cold this morn, 49 degrees. That’s cold for May 22.
Feels good tho. Don’t need an air conditioner. Hope to be able to mow
afternoon. If it dries off enough. We probably got an inch of rain yesterday.
May 23rd 2001 (Wednesday): Cool 48 degrees this morn. I mowed yesterday &
I needed a sweater on. That wind was cold out of the northwest. Real pretty this
morn. Went walking. Sun is shining.
May 24th 2001 (Thursday): Thundering outside this morn. Didn’t have any rain
tho. Real pleasant today. Went walking, got my mail. Cleaned some drawers in
the chest of drawers.
May 25th 2001 (Friday): Sun is shining so pretty this morn. Went walking early,
real cool outside 56 degrees this morn. I have so many hummingbirds I have to
fill the feeder early every morn.
May 26th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking real early this morn. Cloudy outside.
Got my tax bills yesterday. I have really got lots of hummingbirds, can’t keep
their feeder filled.
May 27th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Brother Mike & family are
on vacation, so his brother in law preached. That Alisha’s brother. He’s a real
good preacher, but sure preached a long time. Bro. Mike is going to Stamps at a
church there. We don’t know who will be our new preacher.
May 28th 2001 (Monday): Memorial Day, no mail today. Kenny is parked down
at Bill’s but I have not seen him. I did my walking down by there & I guess he is
still sleeping. He came up & he & Ruth & Bill are going out for lunch & he didn’t
want breakfast. He left about 6 this afternoon.
May 29th 2001 (Tuesday): I am planning on going grocery shopping today & I
have got to fix a dish to take down for a funeral. That is at 10am so I will be late
getting off shopping. I will just eat at Chinese restaurant today. Sure tired after
all the shopping.
May 30th 2001 (Wednesday): Trimmed up some of my Crepe Myrtle bushes &
poison ivy out of them. Did my mowing & it sure looks nice out there. Looks like
rain tonight.
May 31st 2001 (Thursday): Well it rained & stormed all night. Just a constant
flare of lightning. Got 6 inches of rain. Sure glad I got my mowing done first.
Mary called wanting to know if I was all right. She had heard about it storing over
here. Alice called too, they were up north somewhere.
June 1st 2001 (Friday): Well this is the first of June, still cool enough. Will be hot
before long tho. Just around the corner. Got me a new wig, but I don’t like it.
Wish my hair would grow enough to do without it.
June 2nd 2001 (Saturday): Cool this morn, had to wear a sweater out walking.
Steve called & said they would be up here tomorrow & bring spaghetti dinner &
all the fixings. Michelle is fixing all of it. They came tonight & we had supper but
she bought everything.
June 3rd 2001 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Had a nice crowd this morn. Mr.
Mitchell preached the night service.
June 4th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry today – and played the rest of the day.
Went walking & got the mail.
June 5th 2001 (Tuesday): Well I moped & cleaned house. Cleaned & vacuumed
the air conditioner for cool air. Works fine. Then rested this afternoon. Mary
called & they were leaving today to go to Rockford. She said it was trying to rain
over there, about like it did here yesterday. Went walking earlier.
June 6th 2001 (Wednesday): Went walking early, trying to rain, real cloudy.
Cleaned out my car. Studied lesson for Bible study tonight. Bro. Cooper leads it.
Going to grocery store first.
June 7th 2001 (Thursday): Trying to rain outside just wet enough that I can’t
mow. Cool. Air conditioner comes on very seldom & the house is cool. I have a
time trying to keep the hummingbirds with food, I have to fill their feeder twice a
day. I have 12 or 15 birds.
June 8th 2001 Friday): Well it is solid cloudy this morn but I hope it dries off
enough for me to mow the grass. I mowed all of the north side & was started
good on the south side & it started pouring down rain, so I had to quit for today
hope I can finish tomorrow.
June 9th 2001 (Saturday): Still cloudy but hope I can mow sometime today.
Cool enough that don’t need air conditioner. That’s good as it is well on into
June & June can get really hot.
June 10th 2001 (Sunday): Well today is Bro. Mike’s last day at our church. We
had a big potluck at noon & plenty of food. Then I went with Melba Joan over to
Geneva Staggs house as they were giving her a birthday party today. Will go
back to church tonight if it’s the Lords will, I gave my testimony this morning.
June 11th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry early this morn. Ruth called & said Alice
& Don are in, she will be down tomorrow. Went walking early. Worked puzzles
today too much.
June 12th 2001 (Tuesday): Got up early. Alice said she would be here early &
she was a little after seven. We played Rummy Cube for awhile & then she
tackled my checkbook that’s been out of balance since my arm was broken. She
got it near enough right & I just took to bank’s record to be right. She worked so
hard on that. We had dinner & she left here about 5 o’clock.
June 13th 2001 (Wednesday): I went to town early this morn, left here at 7
o’clock. Went to Wal-Marts, Krogers, & then went & got my license for the car.
Got back a little after 10. Had a real nice morn, cloudy part of the time.
June 14th 2001 (Thursday): Cloudy & not quite as hot as the sun is not shining
very much. Hope I can mow some this afternoon. Grass grows so fast as it has
been raining so much.
June 15th 2001 (Friday): Well it stormed a lot last night. I don’t know how much
rain we got. The electric was off from 2am till about 4:30. Had to hunt up the
flashlight in the dark.
June 16th 2001 (Saturday): It is cooler this morn 62 degrees early. Sun is
shining so it will get warmer. Went walking about 6:30, cool out. Will try to color
my hair this afternoon.
June 17th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Bro. Hicks preached today
& I hardly heard a word he said. Had quite a few at church, more than we been
having.
June 18th 2001 (Monday): Well Monday morn & the sun is shining. I went
walking at 6:35. Cool out. They are forecasting a cool front to come in the middle
of the week. So far so good.
June 19th 2001 (Tuesday): Went walking real early 6:00am. Got back from
walking & trimmed on the crab apple tree tat has branches hanging loaded to the
ground. Trimmed a lot of it but more needs to be cut or cut down the tree one.
Hope to trim more on the plycanthia bushes this afternoon or when it dries off
enough. Feel pretty good today. Trimmed the bush out in the corner.
June 20th 2001 (Wednesday): Picked up & piled all the apple tree limbs I cut
yesterday. Sure got a big pile. The wind will probably blow it over. Went
walking & mailed by envelope for more stamps. Will fix my pea salad today for
tomorrow.
June 21st 2001 (Thursday): Went & took lunch to the church. Had a big crowd.
Celebrated Ruth (Bob) Johnson as her birthday is next Monday. She got a lot of
nice gifts & cards. Did my mowing this afternoon & then it rained & I mean it
poured down & electric went off for 3 hours & little over. A lot of thunder &
lightening.
June 22nd 2001 (Friday): Went walking real early. Cool this morn. As a cool
front came in. Sure nice outside.
June 23rd 2001 (Saturday): Went walking early. This would have been by
brother (Gerald’s) birthday. He would have been 77 today. Real cool this
morning. Will pick up all my brush from trimming bushes today.
June 24th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Bro. Phillips from the
college preached. He preached loud enough to be heard. Brought a good
sermon & he will preach next Sunday. We only had 5 present in our class.
June 25th 2001 (Monday): Today is Ruth’s (Bills wife) birthday. Walked real
early left Ruth’s card on her doorstep. Hope she finds it. She did. Did laundry.
Alice called, they are home already.
June 26th 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town this morn. Stopped to get gas at the
Shell station. I had a tire almost flat & would have blown out in just a little bit, it
was real hot. So I had to buy a new tire. I will go back next week & buy 3 more
new tires, at Gunnels.
June 27th 2001 (Wednesday): Alice came down today. Fixed dinner, played
Rummy Cube. Really enjoyed it. She said she had got me some shoes I can
wear but she forgot to bring them.
June 28th 2001 (Thursday): Sure rained last night. Can’t mow today unless it
dries off soon. I want to go back to Magnolia to buy 3 new tires. I am afraid I will
have a flat out on the hiway. I was lucky or God watched over me by having that
flat at the service station. I did mow this afternoon.
June 29th 2001 (Friday): Got all my mowing done yesterday. Sure glad. Looks
like rain today. Went walking already but is dark clouds all around. Wanted to
go get my tires & go to the bank today but it looks to stormy.
June 30th 2001 (Saturday): Well it has rained twice today this morn & this
afternoon. Cool for June 30th. Walked real early this morn. Didn’t get the mail
for it rained so much of the time.
July 1st 2001 (Sunday): Well it’s July & I guess it will get hot, but is real nice
today. Went to church, Bro. Ben Phillips from S.A.U. preached today & will
tonight.
July 2nd 2001 (Monday): Went to Magnolia today & bought 3 new tires at
Gunnels tire. Really glad to have new tires. Went to the bank to renew my C.D.
& the interest has dropped from 6 ½ % to 3 ½ %. So I just cashed out the one I
had & didn’t buy more, like I intended to do. A woman called today & is going to
come out Wednesday to look at the siding on the gables.
July 3rd 2001 (Tuesday): Went walking early. Sun is out & getting warmer.
Alice & Don went back out on the truck. She thought they would sure be here for
the 4th. I don’t have any plans for tomorrow.
July 4th 2001 (Wednesday): Holiday, I am not expecting company today. A
contractor called the other day & said they would be here today to look at my
gables that are rotting down where it joins roofing. They didn’t show up.
July 5th 2001 (Thursday): Well I didn’t see anybody yesterday. Hot sunshiny
day today. Sure will be glad to see July & Aug. behind us. Got to mow today.
Mowed over half while I had a lot of cloud cover. Then the sun got hot & just got
a little over half mowed.
July 6th 2001 (Friday): Hope I can finish the mowing today. Went walking by
6:30 this morn. Going to be hot today, in the 90’s. Felling pretty good today.
Mary called about 1pm. Said they will come over when the weather gets cooler,
about the last of September.
July 7th 2001 (Saturday): Well I finished my mowing last evening, got cloudy &
was not so warm. Leah & Jenna came over for tea & cookies. Was glad to see
them, that was yesterday evening. Moped floors this morn. Alice called last
night & they are home. She came down about noon & brought me two pairs of
Sandals & I can wear them. Also a card form my birthday the 30th. We played
rummy cube.
July 8th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church today. Bro. James Lindsey (Travis’s
uncle) preached today & tonight & will preach next Sunday. Such a few at
church, I am ashamed when we have a visiting preacher. Still hot & getting dry.
July 9th 2001 (Monday): Still hot & it keeps me busy keeping food out for my
hummingbirds. Did laundry, went walking. Grass is almost ready to mow again,
but it is getting dry now so maybe I won’t have to mow every week unless it starts
to rain again. Wilbur Eades is at home & I want to go visit her & take some of my
cooked cabbage. I went to visit Wilbur Eades this afternoon she is doing as well
as can be expected. Not to good.
July 10th 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town this morn got home by 10:30. Got
groceries & a few things at Wal-Mart. Doris is staying with Wilbur. Still so hot,
nearly burn up when you get out.
July 11th 2001 (Wednesday): Went walking early & it is a little cloudy this morn,
maybe we will get a little rain. Got to mow again. Got to look for the best time to
go out there. Leah & Jenna go to pick up Ray today. Alice & Don are going out
again.
July 12th 2001 (Thursday): Ray missed his flight & won’t be home until today.
Still hot, I done my clipping the grass around the front walk while it was a little
cooler early this morn & trimmed my Hydrangea. Hope it gets cloudy this
afternoon so I can mow. It didn’t.
July 13th 2001 (Friday): Well it is real cloudy & I went walking early. Then it
started raining. When am I going to get to mow? It’s going to get too big to mow.
Then it faired off & got cool. Got all my mowing down. Thank the Lord.
July 14th 2001 (Saturday): Got up at 4 o’clock, just couldn’t sleep. Cloudy &
cool, feels like fall. Here it is noon & its been cloudy & cool all day. The air
conditioner hasn’t run all day, really nice. I have so many hummingbirds I have
to fill their feeder 3 times a day. They just swarm in here.
July 15th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Bro. James Lindsey
preached today & tonight. Had good preaching but hardly anybody there. Still
nice & cool. Didn’t have any company today. Ellen Smith (Flaherty) died
yesterday, her funeral is Tuesday.
July 16th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry today. Went walking real early. Didn’t do
much today.
July 17th 2001 (Tuesday): Went walking done some reading. In fact I read too
much.
July 18th 2001 (Wednesday): No church tonight & I miss that. Bro. Orris
Lindsay will preach this coming Sunday at our church.
July 19th 2001 (Thursday): Tried to start my lawn mower & it would not start.
Battery is shot in it. Bill came & took it off, put it in the trunk of the car. I will go
to town in the morn & get a new one.
July 20th 2001 (Friday): Went to Magnolia first thing this morn & got a new
battery for the mower. I got groceries while I was over there.
July 21st 2001 (Saturday): Bill put on the new battery & I mowed half the lawn
late yesterday. Got to mow the rest today. My left arm is bothering me.
July 22nd 2001 (Sunday): Went to church had to go way around as we have a
bridge that is out on our road. Bro. Orris Lindsay preached today, had a good
sermon. Went to church tonight had good preaching again. We voted to call
James Lindsay for interim pastor.
July 23rd 2001 (Monday): Sure is hot getting hotter. Did laundry. Got my mail &
I am supposed to get $300 back on my taxes in September, can’t believe that.
Already got $26 back on S.S. & $2 added to monthly income.
July 24th 2001 (Tuesday): I went to the funeral of Grady White. We took dinner
for all of them about 50 or 55. Was a big crowd of the relatives. Sung in the
choir. Bro. Turner preached the Eulogy. Long day.
July 25th 2001 (Wednesday): Rested most of today. Still so hot. Got to mow
again but can’t in the hot sun. Maybe it will cloud up as it is supposed to rain.
July 26th 2001 (Thursday): Partly cloudy again today. Maybe I can finish my
mowing this afternoon. Moped the floor this morn.
July 27th 2001 (Friday): Took Ruth to get hair fixed this morn. Still hot. Our
bridge is still out, but they are supposed to working on it today. Got the rest of
my mowing done yesterday afternoon.
July 28th 2001 (Saturday): Rained a little bit last evening about .1 of an inch.
Just enough to wet the grass. Ruth & Bill left this morn for Ruth to catch a plane
at Little Rock to go to Minnesota. She will be gone a month. Real cloudy today
so far at noon.
July 29th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn. Bro. James Lindsay
preached as we called him as interim pastor. Had a few more present this morn.
Talked to Travis a few minutes ago. Leah & Ray is going on vacation to
Washington State,. Still warm.
July 30th 2001 (Monday): My Birthday & Leah’s today. Did laundry. Called
Pearson Eye institute about a bill I am supposed to have but they haven’t called
back yet & it is 12 o’clock & I called at 9:30 this morn & she is supposed to call
me back. Alice called & said they might be home this week sometime or early
next week.
July 31st 2001 (Tuesday): Still very hot. Leah is supposed to drop by today, her
& Jenna for tea & cookies. The woman from the Eye Institute has not called yet.
They got our bridge fixed yesterday as our road has been closed for weeks.
Sure glad it is open now.
Aug. 1st 2001 (Wednesday): Just a year ago I stared this book. Got out & did
some clipping on grass & got hot. I wrote a letter to Dunn & Dunn about that bill
they say I owe Pearson Eye. Called Pearson again & got the same run around.
They have not called yet.
Aug 2nd 2001 (Thursday): Went walking early. Tried to take up brick here in
back but the ground is to dry & hard. Will do when it rains. Can’t do hardly
anything outside it is so hot & dry. Wrote a letter to Dunns about the bill
Pearsons Eye claims I owe. Paid my water bill.
Aug 3rd 2001 (Friday): Went walking early & raked up mowed grass by driveway
this morn, got it in piles. Pulled grass some here around turn around tree up
close to the house. Sure tired after doing all that. Feel dizzy just sitting here in
the chair.
Aug 4th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking early. 74 degrees this morn outside.
Feels real good. Sure need rain. Bill came up & had dinner with me today. Ruth
is still in Minnesota.
Aug 5th 2001 (Sunday): Went to Sunday school & church this morn. Sure a
small turnout. Bro. Lindsay & wife has moved into the parsonage. Still hot & dry.
Will go back to church tonight. Had goo service but small crowd.
Aug 6th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry. Alice came down & we spent the morn
playing Rummy Cube. Still hot & no rain. As I go to town tomorrow it will surely
rain. Alice was doing fine & we really enjoy our Rummy Cube game.
Aug 7th 2001 (Tuesday): Didn’t even look like rain. Just Hot Hot. Went to WalMart & Krogers & back home to hot to do otherwise. That’s about all I know is
hot. The Almanac sure missed its predictions about rain.
Aug 8th 2001 (Wednesday): Went walking real early, barely daylight enough.
Still hot 105 degrees today. My hummingbirds are eating me out of everything,
have to fill their feeder 3 times a day. Still no rain, I won’t believe the Almanac
again, however we did have a hurricane in the Gulf, but didn’t effect us any.
Alabama & Mississippi got rain.
Aug 9th 2001 (Thursday): Went walking early. Got a good nights sleep, didn’t
sleep hardly any night before last. But made up for it last night.
Aug 10th 2001 (Friday): Went walking early. Sure hot today 100 degrees, but a
breeze got up later & cooled off some. My hummingbirds eat an awful lot for
such little birds, have to fill feeder 3 times a day.
Aug 11th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking early & it is sprinkling rain & real
cloudy. But only sprinkled. Barely ran off the house but thank God for the clouds
for it is cooler.
Aug 12th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn but our congregation has not
growed a bit. Went to church tonight, had a good many at church for Sunday
night, more than we have had in a long time.
Aug 13th 2001 (Monday): Went walking & mailed my bills. Real foggy this morn.
Did laundry. So foggy you can hardly see the road from the house. Glad I don’t
have to hang clothes outside.
Aug 14th 2001 (Tuesday): Went walking this morn. The county trimmed limbs
about the power lines, so they trimmed my pecan trees down by the road. This
morn they came by & cleaned up all the brush they had trimmed. I had been
wondering how I could ever pile up all that brush. Now it is all cleaned up.
Aug 15th 2001 (Wednesday): A little cooler this morn, sure felt good as I did my
walking. It is fair & the sun will soon warm everything up to hot.
Aug 16th 2001 (Thursday): Went walking. Got ready to go out & eat at Chinese
Restaurant with Travis & David. Sure was good eating, but they hardly ate
anything, left it all on their plate. I enjoyed it. Came back & drove up to the
cemetery.
Aug 17th 2001 (Friday): Went walking. Moped floor yesterday morn, before I
went with Travis & David. Rained a little here, not very much but only in the 80’s
today no 90’s for a change. Real cloudy all day.
Aug 18th 2001 (Saturday): Started walking this morn & got out almost to the
road & it started raining. I got pretty wet. I came in & got my umbrella & then
went walking but didn’t rain much, but it could rain some more. I got pretty damp
anyway. Still real cloudy.
Aug 19th 2001 (Sunday): Cloudy again this afternoon. A little cooler, which is
much, appreciated. Went to church this morn, crowd about as usual. Will go
again tonight if it please the Lord.
Aug 20th 2001 (Monday): Went to church last night only we get home way
before dark. Had a real nice day & good Sunday school lesson.
Aug 21st 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town early this morn about 8:30. Went to
Sav-A-Lot & got a few things. Went to Wal-Mart & then to Brookshire’s but
couldn’t find half & wanted at Brookshire’s, won’t try that again. Hot today, no
clouds at all.
Aug 22nd 2001 (Wednesday): Still hot, went walking early cool enough then
before sun up. Can’t do anything outside. Mary called this morn & they plan on
coming the 23rd of Sept. Hope it is lot cooler by then.
Aug 23rd 2001 (Thursday): Went walking early. Going to be hot again today. I
need to mow the north side of my lawn but just to hot in the afternoon.
Aug 24th 2001 (Friday): Went walking early. Got a note from Annie Mae
yesterday. I would really like to go down there to see her, but just hate to go by
myself. I will try to call her. Said her sister passed away the 1st of August.
Aug 25th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking & at about 8 o’clock I went to Waldo &
got Bananas, Vanilla Wafers & Baked beans for pot luck tomorrow at church.
Fixed pea salad yesterday. Hot again today. Called Annie Mae & talked to her
for a bit.
Aug 26th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church twice today. Not many came tonight.
Had good services. Looked like rain tonight but it didn’t just lightened &
thundered.
Aug 27th 2001 (Monday): Such a cool day for a change. Cloudy nearly all day.
Got out & got my mowing done while it was cool.
Aug 28th 2001 (Tuesday): Fixed mashed potatoes for the Meat for Mrs. Giles
sister that died. They ate over at her sons house.
Aug 29th 2001 (Wednesday): Fixed food for feeding the B.S.U. today, fixed
Enchilada Casserole & pea salad. Took that down to the Church. Hope they
had enough food. Didn’t go walking today only to the mailbox & that is a pretty
good walk.
Aug 30th 2001 (Thursday): I went walking & took out my garbage. Ray Bailey is
sending over some wood for winter. This man has brought 2 loads on his pickup
one was little sticks one was blocks to be split. Cloudy this morn. No rain yet.
Aug 31st 2001 (Friday): Went walking & had to have the umbrella just drizzling,
but there is puddles out there. Thank the Lord for some rain. Leah & Jenna
were here yesterday afternoon. We had tea & cookies & enjoyed visiting.
Sept 1st 2001 (Saturday): Rained nearly all day yesterday & is raining again this
morn, just a drizzle just barely enough to run off the house. 72 degrees this morn
so nice the air conditioner has not clicked on at all that I know of. Thank God for
our rain. Now we can burn trash.
Sept 2nd 2001 (Sunday): Rainy looking day. Thanks so much for the rain. Went
to church twice today. Went over to Travis’s house for dinner as he had gone to
the Chinese place & got our dinner. He & I & David had Chinese dinner.
Sept 3rd 2001 (Monday): Jerry Lewis Telethon is about all there is on TV today.
Still real foggy this morn. Rained a little bit & cool.
Sept 4th 2001 (Tuesday): Went shopping today, so foggy I could hardly drive as
I went to town. Didn’t realize it was so bad. Made it all right.
Sept 5th 2001 (Wednesday): Still foggy this morn. I got my $300 check from the
government today. Got money to spend now! Ha. Should last till Nov. for odds &
ends.
Sept 6th 2001 (Thursday): Today is mine & Arvie’s anniversary 65 years if he
was here. Fair this morn & will probably get hot today but the week end is
supposed to be lot cooler. A cold front is coming in Sunday. Hope so. Steve
called yesterday & he is coming back out here he don’t like Arizona. He will be
here next week & has to take care of Daniel until Sandy gets over surgery for
removal of a kidney she is giving her dad.
Sept 7th 2001 (Friday): Real cloudy this morn, went walking. I am trying to put
up 2 ½ tiles in the bathroom that fell out but it is so hard for me to climb 1 or 2
steps on the ladder & I feel like I am going to fall. I’ve got 1 tile up so far at 8
o’clock. Ha. Got both tiles up.
Sept 8th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking pretty early. Slept a little late this morn
because I didn’t get in bed until 10 o’clock. Went to prayer meeting at Wayne &
Betty Brown’s last night. Only 10 present there. Sure pray we have a good
revival which starts the 16th of this month.
Sept 9th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn not many there. Rained &
stormed this morn about 4 o’clock but has just been cloudy the rest of today,
cooler in the 60’s. Will try to go to church tonight. Did go.
Sept 10th 2001 (Monday): Went walking & it is cool outside 62 degrees this morn
really could have had a light jacket, but didn’t. Our revival starts next Sunday for
4 nights. Bro. Cherry is coming to hold that.
Sept 11th 2001 (Tuesday): We as a nation have been attacked by a Foreign
Nation or an individual. They flew 2 airplanes into the World Trade Center in
New York City. Crashing them to the ground & lots of people were killed. That
was about 8:30 this morn. 2 hijacked planes flew into the buildings & they were
on fire for about 2 hours & then collapsed to the ground. A “Day of Terror” this
has been. That’s all you can get on TV no local news or anything else today.
Sept 12th 2001 (Wednesday): Still that is all there is on TV. We are in a state of
war. Everyone thinks (Bed-laden) is behind this. Alice was down this morn & will
be home all this week. One thing this terrible thing that’s happened it is bringing
people to praying to God. They were praying on TV today.
Sept 13th 2001 (Thursday): The Electric Co. was out trimming my pine trees out
over the electric lines today. Now the squirrels can’t jump from the trees over on
the transformer. Warmer today.
Sept 14th 2001 (Friday): Fair, went walking only my walking is shorter because I
just give out, not much strength. The electric co. is supposed to come out & pick
up all this trimming of limbs on the ground. Haven’t saw Steve & he was
supposed to be here yesterday.
Sept 15th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking early. Sun is really shining today.
Steve is supposed to come with the boys as Sandy is having surgery for to give
her dad a kidney. I can’t keep the kids by myself. Don’t know what they will do if
Steve don’t come.
Sept 16th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & Bro. Cherry & his family is
carrying on our revival. Had a real good service. Had potluck dinner & a good
turn out. A nice crowd. May the Lord bless this & may people be saved. Had a
real good sermon. Will go again tonight.
Sept 17th 2001 (Monday): Had good services tonight too. No interest taken tho.
Real good preaching & good singing. Small, maybe a few more than usual on
Sunday night. Heard from Steve & he didn’t try to come but didn’t let me know.
He apologized for that.
Sept 18th 2001 (Tuesday): Went shopping this morn for groceries got $80 worth
of groceries or at least that is how much they cost. Had good preaching &
singing of revival. No interest that we can tell. Will try to go again tonight.
Sept 19th 2001 (Wednesday): Went walking this morn. Had good preaching &
singing last night, but no interest, nice crowd. Cleaned up where the men had
trimmed the trees, they cleaned up the big brush but I had 4 wheelbarrow loads
to haul off. Tonight is last night of revival. I pray for more interest tonight.

Sept 20th 2001 (Thursday): Well we had interest tonight. One girl came forward
& was saved. I don’t know her name. I am sure glad I don’t have to drive at
night so many nights. The Cherry’s that held our revival is on the road to
different things nearly all the time.
Sept 21st 2001 (Friday): It’s really cool this morn. Wore a sweater to go walking.
I called Mary about it being so cool. I guess they are coming Sunday. Travis
called & wants to go eat at dinner Sunday at Chinese Café.
Sept 22nd 2001 (Saturday): This would have been my mother’s birthday, &
tomorrow would have been Betty’s birthday. I am looking for Mary & Ham
tomorrow.
Sept 23rd 2001 (Sunday): Went to church & then out to Travis’s for dinner. He
had gone to the Chinese place & brought back dinner for he & I and David. Don’t
know if Mary & Ham will be here today or not. They did get here.
Sept 24th 2001 (Monday): I did laundry, went walking Mary & I. We went to
Magnolia after several things for fixing the siding on. Bill came up & helped them
some in the afternoon.
Sept 25th 2001 (Tuesday): They are still working on the gables between the
house & garage. Bill helped again this afternoon.
Sept 26th 2001 (Wednesday): They got the gables between the house done this
morning. We went over to see Travis this afternoon & when we came home they
started on the end of the garage. Mary set fire to my old big brush pile out on the
lawn.
Sept 27th 2001 (Thursday): Mary & I had to go to Magnolia for more stuff for the
siding on the house. Got the run around at peace & had to go to Ace hardware
after what we wanted.
Sept 28th 2001 (Friday): Mary & Ham got all the siding on the house & it really
looks good. They have worked so hard getting that done this week. Mary & I
went to Magnolia & had Chinese dinner today. Bill helped Ham get the siding
finished.
Sept 29th 2001 (Saturday): Mary & I went back to Magnolia for a gallon of white
paint & Ham painted the garage door. Everything is white out there & looks
good.
Sept 30th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn not long after Mary & Ham
left. I went back to church tonight. Small bunch there. Alice came down today.
Oct 1st 2001 (Monday): Tammy is pregnant again & has trouble with this baby
the doctor said there is no heart beat. So she is going to the hospital in
Texarkana this morn. Ruth Johnson who lives on the Red Road called me that
she is going up to Tammy’s to stay with the kids today so I am going up there to
help.
Oct 2nd 2001 (Tuesday): Tammy has to go back Wednesday so we are going
back to stay with the kids again.
Oct 3rd 2001 (Wednesday): Tammy finished having the baby at home last night.
She is doing fine & doesn’t have to go back to the doctor until a set time. So we
don’t have to go up there. I went grocery shopping yesterday. Sandy (Steve’s
ex wife) came to see me. Ruth was with her. She is doing good from her
operation.
Oct 4th 2001 (Thursday): Went walking & waited on the garbage man but he
hasn’t run, so I went ahead & did my walking. Will get it later. Alice came down
for awhile yesterday.
Oct 5th 2001 (Friday): Garbage man finely came he was late. Went walking &
brought garbage can to the house. Trimmed the rest of my bushes around the
garage & cleaned my garage windows except one yesterday & maybe I can get
the other one today after dinner.
Oct 6th 2001 (Saturday): Went walking early. Cold this morn 48 degrees. Real
cool. Sweater felt good outside. Going to Reba Rasson’s birthday party at
church this afternoon. Washed my hair.
Oct 7th 2001 (Sunday): Went to Sunday school & church. The minister’s (Bro.
Lindsay) wife Clara started coming to our class. Sure glad to have her. Had 8 in
our class today. Tammy was able to be in church today too. War is really
happening now in Afghanistan.
Oct 8th 2001 (Monday): Real pretty today but cool, 46 degrees this morn. Did
laundry. Walked here in the house. Sure shining real pretty. Got out & mowed
the rest of the lawn. Was real nice outside this afternoon.
Oct 9th 2001 (Tuesday): Cloudy & looks like rain. Walked here in the house. I
must get out & break up kindling for the fireplace. Will need a fire before long. I
got out & broke up one box of kindling today.
Oct 10th 2001 (Wednesday): Went walking & mailed my electric bill. Rainy
looking this morn & warmer. I sawed up some of the big limbs off the oak tree
from last winter freeze. My saw still works good. Sure got a lot more to saw up.
Oct 11th 2001 (Thursday): Raining today. Rained all morning. I called Mary &
Ham & talked a while with them. Studied my Sunday school lesson. Our country
is at war with Islam. Ben Laden (a Islam fanatic) is behind all this. They are bent
on trying to destroy America. This goes back to Abraham & his two sons. One
by Sarah (Issac) & one by his handmaiden Kentura (Isumal). They hate all Jews
& Americans.
Oct 12th 2001 (Friday): I took Travis & David with me to Chinese restaurant
today, had a delicious dinner. Tried to break up some more limbs almost to wet
out there. I sawed some of the limbs last week into sticks for the fireplace. Got
plenty wood. As Leah & Ray had had it hauled over here. He still has to split it.
Oct 13th 2001 (Saturday): Walked here in the house. Rainy outside. Studied
Sunday school lesson.
Oct 14th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church twice. Nice today. Orris Lindsay’s wife
Iris had a couple of heart attacks & is real sick.
Oct 15th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry, cleaned up the remains & the brush pile
out on the lawn. Now it is ready to mow next year.
Oct 16th 2001 (Tuesday): Went to town today, got gas & groceries. Got home at
12:30 raked up leaves but to windy, I burned a few but the wind was to strong.
Oct 17th 2001 (Wednesday): Raked leaves here behind the kitchen, got them all
burned. Bill & Kenny brought out an extra refrigerator that I don’t need.
Oct 18th 2001 (Thursday): Raked the leaves in the front yard. Just like the ones
on the south end of the house. May get those this afternoon.
Oct 19th 2001 (Friday): Got up at 4am. Just couldn’t sleep any longer. Raked
some more in the yard on the south & east side & burned the leaves. Was so
tired when I got in the house.
Oct 20th 2001 (Saturday): Raked some more in the yard. I have most of leaves
raked, but now pine straw. A real nice day.
Oct 21st 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn, had a very small crowd. Lot
of people gone out of town. Will try to go again tonight. A lot warmer today. Oris
& Iris Lindsay are much better. Oris was at church tonight & thinks she can
come home tomorrow.
Oct 22nd 2001 (Monday): Did laundry & moped floors early this morn. I intend to
go over to Travis’s this afternoon as tomorrow is his birthday but I can’t go
tomorrow for Alice is coming down.
Oct 23rd 2001 (Tuesday): Today is Travis’s birthday. Alice is not coming down
here. She had to go back to the dentist herself today. Iris Lindsay died this
morn. That’s Oris Lindsay’s wife. Don’t know any of the particulars of the funeral
only it will be Thursday, where I don’t know yet. Alice did come down this
afternoon & we got the tree I wanted cut, cut down.
Oct 24th 2001 (Wednesday): I am going to try to paint my swing & two brown
chairs over again this morn. Real cloudy outside but not supposed to rain until
maybe late this afternoon or night.
Oct 25th 2001 (Thursday): Iris Lindsay will be buried today. I will go to the
funeral home in Magnolia this afternoon. Got my painting done yesterday. Leah
& Jenna came by this afternoon. I went to the funeral.
Oct 26th 2001 (Friday): I broke up & repiled the brush from the redbud tree Alice
& I cut down, for it was brushing the roof of the house.
Oct 27th 2001 (Saturday): Cool this morn 44 degrees. Supposed to be in the
30’s in the morn. I have already brought up wood for a fire in the morn. First
time for a fire this season. Winter is just around the corner, feeling fine for me.
Oct 28th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn but not tonight for the time is
changed back to regular time & it is dark at 6 o’clock. So seven when we get out.
Cold today, had my first fire of the season. 36 degrees this morn.
Oct 29th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry & Steve came by, he is moved back to
Arkansas. Hope to fix up his trailer so he can stay there until he can build ham a
house. Ray’s helper man was supposed to come over & split my wood today but
it is noon & no show.
Oct 30th 2001 (Tuesday): Well I intended to go shopping today but David (Rays
helper) is supposed to be here to finish splitting my wood. It is now 8 o’clock &
he is not here yet. Hope it gets done today. Steve came in yesterday & I thought
he would be here last night but he didn’t come in.
Oct 31st 2001 (Wednesday): Went to Magnolia shopping this morn. Went to
Chinese place & ate dinner & then back home. Didn’t see Steve anymore.
Nov 1st 2001 (Thursday): Going to be windy again today. I have so many
leaves on the yard already. Don’t need a fire today in the mid fifties this morn.
Nov 2nd 2001 (Friday): Still warm & don’t need a fire. Cut off some bad needed
cutting limbs on Cherry tree & the thorny bushes.
Nov 3rd 2001 (Saturday): Steve & kids got here & we had dinner I had fixed &
they will spend the night tonight. The children played & Nikki & I watched a
movie on TV
Nov 4th 2001 (Sunday): I am going to church today. Steve took the boys with
him somewhere & Nikki is still asleep. When I got home from church they were
gone.
Nov 5th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry this morn & moped the floors. My floors
were really dirty & looked terrible. Made beds & am really tired. Steve came in
this afternoon & he is thinking of going back to Arizona & ask Michelle to marry
him.
Nov 6th 2001 (Tuesday): Well Steve is leaving this morn to go back to Arizona
but they are going to come out here for Thanksgiving. May the Lord look after
him going & coming.
Nov 7th 2001 (Wednesday): Well Steve has been gone a day & night but I don’t
suppose he has got to Arizona yet. Alice & Don came got the refrigerator on the
back porch Bill thought I needed, but I didn’t. Sure is cool here in the house but
warm enough outside.
Nov 8th 2001 (Thursday): Another nice day 46 degrees this morn but in the 70’s
during the day, no fire. Alice bought the refrigerator from Bill that he had brought
me on the back porch. I didn’t need it. Steve called from Arizona as he got back
out there o.k.
Nov 9th 2001 (Friday): Walked to the mailbox. About the same temperature.
Don’t need a fire. Leah & Jenna came over yesterday afternoon for tea &
cookies.
Nov 10th 2001 (Saturday): Nice outside today, pretty & warm. But I am afraid to
burn anything it is so dry. Got a lot I need to burn. Bushes to trim & burn. Will
get it done after it rains. No mail for me today.
Nov 11th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn, had a little fire early but not
up in the day. Bro. Orris Lindsay will preach tonight. Had 40 in Sunday school
this morn. Had very few tonight, not even 20.
Nov 12th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry, Got out a puzzle but I think is more than I
can do, has hummingbirds on it.
Nov 13th 2001 (Tuesday): Went shopping this morn. Went by to get my flu shot
but they didn’t have any. So I will go to Dr. Grimmett Sunday night.
Nov 14th 2001 (Wednesday): Another nice day. Put out my garbage for pickup
tomorrow. Got my telephone bill today.
Nov 15th 2001 (Thursday): Brought in garbage can & mailed my telephone bill.
Steve called & said they will be here tomorrow night for a week. Got to cook a
lot.
Nov 16th 2001 (Friday): Steve & Michelle will be here tonight. They got here
about 3am Sat. morn. Went to bed but I didn’t sleep anymore. Steve was up at
5:30 to go deer hunting. He went & got his children today.
Nov 17th 2001 (Saturday): Steve went deer hunting again. They brought in their
kind of eating & didn’t want my veggies I had cooked. We played Rummy Cube.
Nov 18th 2001 (Sunday): We all went to church. I went early for Sunday school,
had potluck at church but they didn’t stay & eat. They ate sandwiches again.
Nov 19th 2001 (Monday): Did my laundry last night. Rained a little sprinkle this
morn. Supposed to turn a lot cooler tonight. They all went down to Michelle’s
daddy’s & spent the night. I don’t know when they will be back here, today or
tomorrow.
Nov 20th 2001 (Tuesday): A lot cooler, need a fire & I have a fire going, feels
good. Made all my before hand dishes today, fruit salad, pea salad & made my
pies. 1 pecan & 2 chocolate. Fixed the Cranberry sauce. Took chicken out of
freezer. Will cook tomorrow. I haven’t heard from Steve & Michelle. I guess
they will be here Thursday.
Nov 21st 2001 (Wednesday): I have most of my before hand stuff done. I may
cook part of my chicken today for tomorrow. Made biscuits this morn.
Nov 22nd 2001 (Thursday): (Thanksgiving Day) 9 of us to eat today. 6 of
Steve’s family & Bill & Ruth & myself. Had a good time & a good meal. I almost
overdone myself. I am so tired. But I thank God we could all be together &
everyone well.
Nov 23rd 2001 (Friday): Steve & family left here about 1 o’clock yesterday.
Haven’t heard from them. Got everything back to normal except mopping this
kitchen floor & it is sure dirty. Feel much better this morn as I got a good nights
sleep.
Nov 24th 2001 (Saturday): Had another good nights sleep. Sure needed it.
Feels much better today. Still warm had storms last night. I didn’t hear any of it.
Nov 25th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn, had a very small crowd. We
had 5 in our class. Went back tonight, crowd about as usual. Travis & David
came over & got pies.
Nov 26th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry early this morn. Have had a fire all day
not cold just cool & damp. Feels good to have a little fire. Eat up the rest of the
dressing today.
Nov 27th 2001 (Tuesday): Went shopping today. Went by Dr. Pullig’s office &
got my flu shot. Then did my shopping.
Nov 28th 2001 (Wednesday): Alice came down & brought a pop up Xmas tree.
Then she talked me into going to Hope to the big Wal-Mart so I got ready & went.
She was doing her Christmas shopping. I got so tired & it rained all day long & is
still raining here at bedtime. Hope tomorrow is a better day. It is colder &
raining.
Nov 29th 2001 (Thursday): Still raining 41 degrees. Nothing much I can do
today, still raining.
Nov 30th 2001 (Friday): Well, this is the last day of Nov. Beautiful day, sun is
shining & not to cold. Will be real worm by the middle of next week.
Dec 1st 2001 (Saturday): First day of December & the sun is shining. 40
degrees this morn. Got to vacuum floors this morn, been putting this off & I gotta
do it. Gotta study my Sunday school lesson also.
Dec 2nd 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & had a pretty good crowd.
Will try to go tonight. Got to get a gift for Sadie Pike as today is her birthday.
Got to try to get her something at the grocery store.
Dec 3rd 2001 (Monday): Got Sadie a bottle of body lotion. I did that least night
before church. Got home ok. Did laundry today. Will go with Melba Jean over to
Dudneywood for Sadies birthday party tomorrow.
Dec 4th 2001 (Tuesday): Real pretty day today to start with. Fixed up some bills
& mailed them. Went to Dudneywood to Sadie Pikes birthday party. She is 90
years old last Sunday. Lots of people was there. A lot I did not know. She sure
likes to live over there.
Dec 5th 2001 (Wednesday): I put a puzzle together this morn & called Bridges
garage to get my oil changed. Will go in the morn at 10 o’clock. Raked & burned
this little tree & brush pile on the stump.
Dec 6th 2001 (Thursday): Took the car to Bridges garage & got the oil changed
& oil filter. Real warm today in the upper 70’s. Don’t seem like December.
Dec 7th 2001 (Friday): Still warm don’t need a fire. Got up at 4am couldn’t sleep
so I just got up.
Dec 8th 2001 (Saturday): Still warm but is supposed to be much cooler
tomorrow, will need a fire in the morning. I have got to get my Wal-Mart gift
certificates for Christmas. Got to get stamps for Christmas cards. Will go to
town next Tuesday.
Dec 9th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church & Sunday school this morn. Had
woman portraying Little Moon who spoke. Very few people there. Will try to go
again tonight.
Dec 10th 2001 (Monday): We gave Tammy & John a farewell tonight. Really
foggy out this morn but is lifting now that the sun is out 40 degrees this morn.
Got a good fire going I the fireplace.
Dec 11th 2001 (Tuesday): Went shopping today. Got all my Christmas shopping
done, just got Wal-Mart shopping cards for everyone, got 9. Ate at Chinese
place today.
Dec 12th 2001 (Wednesday): Rained all day long, in the 50’s all day. Fixed out
all my Christmas cards, ready to mail. Good day to do that. Haven’t got dressed
all day, still in my robe & gown.
Dec 13th 2001 (Thursday): It has rained all day long. Not cold 67 degrees no
fire. I am tired of rain. Mailed my Christmas cards today.
Dec 14th 2001 (Friday): Well the sun is supposed to shine today, but here at
9:30 this morn it is still real cloudy, sure haven’t seen the sun. 50 degrees today,
didn’t build a fire.
Dec 15th 2001 (Saturday): 40 degrees today & I have a fire. It started to raining
today at eleven o’clock & is supposed to rain the rest of today & all day
tomorrow. Then fair off & turn cooler.
Dec 16th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church this morn & threatening to rain, got
home before it started raining but it rained all evening & night. 56 degrees this
morn, built a fire tho. Cleared off & the sun is shining off & on today but has not
rained. But it sure rained during the night. I didn’t try to go to church tonight.
Dec 17th 2001 (Monday): Did laundry & built a fire when I first got up, but is not
cold outside 56 to 60 degrees. Cool enough to need a little fire.
Dec 18th 2001 (Tuesday): I started to the mail box this morn when there sat
Tammy & her baby sitting in the car out there, they had just got there. She came
in & we visited for about an hour. She had brought a box of clothes for a lady at
our church for her little grandson.
Dec 19th 2001 (Wednesday): Went to Magnolia early this morn but only got gas
for the car & bought groceries. Then I forgot some things I needed. Won’t go
back until the 3rd of January (or not aiming to).
Dec 20th 2001 (Thursday): Well Christmas is almost here, Leah wants me to
come over Christmas Eve. & Travis wants me to go with him & David to Camden
to Velma’s on Christmas day. I said I would but Ruth & Bill is kind of left out.
Alice & Don are going to Rockford to see his sister for Christmas.
Dec 21st 2001 (Friday): Went to Waldo to pick up a few things for my cooking.
Will take chicken and dressing & fruit salad to church Sunday for potluck. Will
take the same over to Leah’s Monday for potluck at night Christmas Eve.
Dec 22nd 2001 (Saturday): Well I am trying to get my stuff together for chicken &
dressing for Christmas at the church tomorrow & for over at Leah’s for Christmas
eve. Cooked all my breads & onions & celery cooked today.
Dec 23rd 2001 (Sunday): Went to church today, had good services but not many
there & there will be no services tonight. We had potluck dinner today a lot of
colored came.
Dec 24th 2001 (Monday): Worked all day fixed chicken & dressing yesterday &
Made enough for tonight & 2 more pans. Will have chicken & dressing for a
week. Went to Leah & Ray’s for Christmas Eve & exchanged gifts. Leah got me
4 puzzles. I got 3 nice Satin gowns from Alice & a mailbox.
Dec 25th 2001 (Tuesday): Stayed at home today. Bill spent the day with me
here & we had a big meal. Ruth is sick. I sent her a plate of food.
Dec 26th 2001 (Wednesday): Just loafed & rested today. Sure cool, Had a big
fire all day.
Dec 27th 2001 (Thursday): No garbage man today. He will run tomorrow. Still
eating chicken & dressing.
Dec 28th 2001 (Friday): Alice & I went up to Tammy’s. Boy they sure have a big
nice house. It’s in Blevin’s, north of Hope. Her house is so big. Living room,
dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, laundry room, bath, junk room & lots of other
spaces. Just real nice I am proud for her. This was her birthday.
Dec 29th 2001 (Saturday): This is Alice’s birthday today. 40 degrees this morn
early not as cold as it was. She may come down to play Rummy Cube. She got
up the mailbox she gave me for Christmas yesterday afternoon.
Dec 30th 2001 (Sunday): Went to church & Sunday school this morn, had a fair
turnout. Cold in church building, never did get warm, kept my coat on all morn.
Dec 31st 2001 (Monday): Doing laundry. Didn’t see anyone today. 30 degrees
nearly all day. Getting in wood is getting to be monotonous. Have to do it tho.
Will go shopping Thursday if everything goes good.
